About Rachel
Rachel grew up just north of Seattle in the seaside town of Edmonds. After graduating from Edmonds-Woodway High School, she spent four years in Boulder. She attended the University of Colorado and graduated with a major in film and a minor in religious studies. From Colorado, she made her way to Sun Valley, Idaho, an area that she had previously fallen in love with during family vacations. She is an avid outdoor enthusiast, whether it be skiing, running, biking, hiking, climbing or camping on sunny days that seem to be endless in the Wood River Valley. She always strives for the next big adventure whether it is climbing-skiing peaks, running ultra-marathons and exploring the outdoors with her husband and two boys.
One thing that has always drawn Rachel to the Wood River Valley is the community and how easy it is to get involved in organizations you believe in. She has been a Girl Scout Leader and a Coach for Girls on the Run. She has served on the Board for the Hailey Historical Preservation Commission, Girls on the Run and the Scholarship, Education and Nomination Committees for the Sun Valley Board of Realtors. Currently, she is enjoying spending time volunteering in her boy’s school classrooms.
Rachel lives in Ketchum with her husband David and their sons Thijs (Dutch spelling) and Cody. David runs Lloyd Construction INC. so she has a great resource from a local builder! When they are not working, they enjoy spending time at Atkinson’s Park watching their boys’ soccer and baseball practice, climbing, hiking, and skiing. Their sons are in the Spanish dual immersion program at Ernest Hemingway Steam School.
Rachel became interested in real estate when she was employed by the Sawtooth Board of Realtors. The board runs the Multiple Listing Service, regulating the actions, at that time of its 400 realtors and affiliate members. This was a wonderful opportunity that helped her obtain a wealth of knowledge about Idaho real estate law and the local market in the Wood River Valley.
From the Sawtooth Board of Realtors, Rachel took the next step and obtained a real estate license. Heading to Seattle first, she worked with her aunt, Debbie McCallum, who has been a successful agent for more than thirty years. She joined RE/MAX Metro Properties and accompanied her aunt through all her real estate interactions. The exposure to the Seattle market offered an insight into the requirements for success in a competitive market: product knowledge, customer service, and attention to detail. Armed with what she has learned, she made her way back to Sun Valley, the place in which she again considers home.
Rachel joined RE/MAX of Sun Valley in 2006 and spent almost eight years with a top-selling broker, Joanne Wetherell. She feels fortunate to have benefited from her mentorship. In 2014, she decided to make a change and move to an office that has both a presence in Hailey and Ketchum. She is happy to be working at Windermere Real Estate SV LLC and all that it has to offer her clients. She is dedicated to making her customers buying or selling experience as enjoyable and easy as possible. With the vast changes in the housing marketing in the past years, she feels that it is vital to continue her real estate education. To help gain that knowledge she has earned several designations, including a Resort and Second-Home Property Specialist, Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource Certification, Certified Distressed Property Expert Designation and Ninja Selling. Her goal for clients is finding the right buyer for her seller’s property and finding the right property for her buyers. She is honest about showing feedback, work creatively to market listings, keep sellers updated on their listing activity and current market conditions. She follows the market inventory and explores potential properties for sale not currently listed to make sure her buyers know all their options for purchasing properties. If you have questions about their local market or a desire to visit any properties, she looks forward to being your guide in getting acquainted with this wonderful community and all the Valley has to offer.
