His family later relocated to Louisiana to expand their oil business, and Rick attended boarding school in Orlando, FL. The Hamlin family eventually settled in Sarasota, FL, where they established a real estate firm.
Rick began his real estate career in Florida in 1984, becoming a licensed broker. He furthered his education with a B.S. in finance from the University of South Florida, enhancing his ability to serve his clients. Rick then expanded his credentials by becoming a licensed real estate agent and broker in California. While attending law school in California, he worked for a consulting firm, gaining valuable experience across the U.S.
After earning his law degree, Rick joined Morgan Stanley in Santa Barbara, as a financial advisor, obtaining all major stockbroker licenses, including Series 7, 63, 39, 21, and 4. He passed the California Bar Examination and pursued a Master of Law in transnational business practice, studying in Salzburg, Austria. During this time, Rick worked for Denmark's largest law firm in Copenhagen, advising on significant international business and governmental matters.
Rick's career then took him to New York City, where he passed the New York Bar Examination and rejoined his consulting firm, traveling extensively across the U.S. for 19 years. He also became a solicitor of the U.K. and Wales and obtained his New York real estate broker license.
For the past six years, Rick has leveraged his extensive education and experience to advise clients on investing in tax deeds in prime U.S. locations. During the pandemic, he shifted focus to work closer to home, earning his New Jersey real estate license. Rick joined Sotheby's International Realty, attracted by their global reputation for luxury real estate.
