Rob Smith is a native Charlottean, UNC-Chapel Hill graduate and life-long experience collector. He worked in residential and commercial real estate in Charlotte from 1998 to 2001 before selling everything he owned and moving to Christchurch, New Zealand.
What was meant to be a one-year trip set off an unexpected chain of events that lasted for fourteen years across three different countries. Rob went from New Zealand, where he earned an MA in Theatre and Film Studies, to three cities in China–Shanghai, Wuhan, and the tiny town of Ma’an–and then back to New Zealand to pursue his PhD. Experiencing two major earthquakes in Christchurch changed his mind about graduate school, and Rob found himself on a plane to Tokyo, Japan.
Moving to Tokyo was the best decision of his life. At his first job, he met his wife Erika, who is from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Shortly after they got married, they began making plans to move back to Charlotte. They arrived in Charlotte in June 2015 and Rob resumed his real estate career.
Life has been good to them since they moved. Rob real estate business is growing each month and at the same time he is continuing to publish his own mystery series and science fiction series. Best of all, they have two beautiful daughters, Aurora, and Aspen. Learning to be parents and watching their daughters grow has brought them more joy than they could have imagined.
Rob has collected many experiences over the years that have prepared him to return home and provide the highest level of service to his real estate clients. Living abroad and working in multi-cultural environments has strengthened his ability to communicate clearly, ask the right questions and embrace the diverse perspectives of those around him. Rob would love the opportunity to meet his future clients and hear about their life experiences while working with them to buy or sell their home.
