Roger is one of the most experienced Real Estate Brokers in the Charlottesville, Virginia Real Estate community. In fact, Real Estate is in his blood. The image above is from his great-grandfather, Louis J. Voisinet’s, hand-written, real estate notebook circa 1892 from Buffalo, New York. (see end of Bio for most recent accomplishments). Roger has been active in the real estate and construction business in the Charlottesville area since he moved here from Montreal in 1977 following graduate school at the Institute of Environmental Sciences (Miami University, Oxford, Ohio) where he specialized in Environmental Design working with Sociologists and Architects. In Montreal, his firm, Organization of Planning Teams International, among other projects were partners with Architect Paolo Soleri in the construction of an experimental city in Arizona called Arcosanti. Roger also represented the Brace Research Institute at the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat) held in Vancouver in 1976. Roger has been the first in many endeavors: He was chosen in the first group of High School Science Students in Cleveland in 1965 to work as an engineer in an experimental program at the National Aeronatics and Space Administration. He was among the very first individuals to live on Charlottesville’s historic Downtown Mall when he moved in 1979 to the first condominium conversion at 107 W. Main St. In those days, the Mall was just beginning but Roger knew this was where he wanted to start his Charlottesville career. At this location, he started Charlottesville’s most successful solar engineering and contracting company, Virginia Solar Contracting Services, following up on his work as an Environmental Planner in Canada and New York. Roger was an exhibitor at the first Solar Energy Industries Association trade show held in Washington in 1975. Roger was also on the Internet as far back as 1977 and was one of the very first brokers to earn the coveted ePro Real Estate designation and was an early member of the Real Estate Cyberspace Society. ePro’s have advanced expertise in using the internet for Real Estate marketing in the service of their clients. Roger’s web page, cvilleproperties.com is one of the oldest real estate web presences in Central Virginia. Since the mid-1980’s, Roger has been active in the Real Estate community helping clients buy and sell properties throughout the Central Virginia region. Roger was again at the forefront when he became the first Real Estate Broker east of the Mississippi to earn the valuable EcoBroker designation from EcoBroker International in Evergreen, Colorado. Again, he became the first to join the locally created American Conservation Brokers, now called Center for Natural Capital where he serves on the Advisory Board. Roger is also the first Real Estate professional in Central Virginia to join the US Green Building Council and is a member of the local Charlottesville chapter. In 2009 Roger was one of the first, if not first, local Broker to complete the rigorous Certified Distressed Property Expert course (CDPE) and is now trained in the complexities of short sales.
