My name is Ruth Chausse, and I’ve lived in the Columbia River Gorge since 1988. I came here because within 40 miles in any direction I can hike the rainforest, ski high alpine mountains, run and ride in the desert or beautiful green valleys. I can not imagine a better place to settle. The small communities throughout the Gorge offer the type of intimacy that is very hard to come by. I can honestly say that I have not ever had so many wonderful friends. I truly enjoy helping new people settle here and share in this wonderful experience. The Gorge is an amazing place to live, work and play!
For the last 21 years I have been working full time as a Realtor. I list and sell property on both sides of the river and have an experienced knowledge of the real estate market in both areas. Although it’s a good day anytime in the Gorge, she confesses that her favorite time being spring. Spring is usually one of the busiest times for real estate, and it’s when she spends any non-working hours in my garden. Hauling rock, and shoveling yards of compost, soil, and shredded bark are some of my favorite pastimes.
