About Steve

My name is Steve Shaw and I am the broker/owner of Great North Real Estate. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and my company. As a modern and progressive company I feel we may have the tools necessary to market your listing directly to the best potential buyers.

Great North Real Estate was founded in 2017 after I worked in Northern Michigan for several years specializing in Recreational Real Estate. That experience demonstrated to me how out of date and out of touch real estate agents and brokers in Northern Michigan can be. I spent several years working with specialty real estate and traveling around the country to bring buyers to Northern Michigan. While working with clients from Germany, The Netherlands, Finland and other places and showing them Northern Michigan has been a fantastic experience I wasn’t helping the community I grew up in to the level that I wanted. I decided to take the things that I learned selling multi-million dollar recreational properties and put that to use for all types of real estate in Northern Michigan.

After working with and training with agents and brokers around the country I decided to bring that knowledge here and create a new model of real estate brokerage. By constantly analyzing our marketing strategies as well as industry trends we can stay on top of the market and in front of potential buyers. We have gone away from large brokerage type advertising and have focused on facilitating listing agents to market their individual properties. The listing agents know your property best and how to market it. Advertising our company name does not help sell your property. We have also refined our marketing to move away from older style print marketing to more efficient and effective modern marketing such as social media, target digital, advanced search engine placement, advanced accounts with existing web sites, and marketing events. We also try and are open minded to more unique forms of advertising like drones, 3d photography, specialty publications, and direct mailing campaigns.
