About Steven
I’ve always found more joy in hearing how other Realtors approach their work than in discussing my own. After personally helping over 1,700 families around Marco Island and spending 28 years in the business, I can confidently say that I’ve been doing this all my life, starting at my parents’ kitchen table. I fondly remember my father’s bag phone connected to a boat antenna with a 100+ mile range off Marco, and fellow agents with their laptop computers in the 80s, alongside their nice cars and boats to keep up with the Local retirees. Why? Because selling Marco Island to families, one at a time, has always been the best part of my career.
Ask any of the builders, designers, and long-time locals who have been in this business since I was a kid. I also want to acknowledge the unsung heroes—the cleaners who went back to fix things to help close deals, the A/C technicians, plumbers, electricians, attorneys, lenders, surveyors, lawn crews, and all the hardworking City of Marco and county employees, some even working on holidays. There’s a whole network of people dedicated to making families feel at home on this unique barrier island within the Everglades. Let me Help YOU!

After researching the best states for retirement, I arrived from Dakota to Florida to settle down for active retirement. I spent a few weeks driving across the state looking for something which will move and impress me. Marco Island by far outperformed everything else - extremely safe, close proximity to Miami, Key West, Fort Myers and next door to Naples, easy access to the beach by foot and plenty of parking on the residential beach, 10-minute access by boat to Gulf. A place where in the future (hopefully far away) I can access the grocery store, restaurants, and beautiful YMCA complex by electric tricycle or golf cart.
By accident I stopped my truck beside Steve Purcell’s real estate office, and this was my lucky day. I didn’t have much time, as I had to get back to Dakota, but I spent two intense and productive weeks learning about the Island and the important aspects of this unique location and difficult (I don’t hesitate to say crazy) market. With Steve and Chad, we visited probably over 50 houses in different price ranges, locations, and configurations, which was a great eye opener for me. I learned firsthand what is important and what is less important and the cost of each option. They kept to such an intensive schedule and were always honest in all information and advice. Steve’s advice was priceless because of his over 30 years’ experience living on Marco and in real estate. Almost everybody knows him and he knows everybody, every street and almost every house.
On the end of my stay on Marco I was again lucky to find the house which suits me perfectly. Guided by Steve we checked this house in and out, its history and so on. I was directed to a good lawyer, financing, inspections, etc. The purchase went smoothly.
I moved in over a month ago to my new house and describe my satisfaction at 100%, based on house, location, people, weather, Marco Island, YMCA, etc. My kids have already visited me and are having a blast at their new vacation destination!
