About Susan

I have always been drawn to occupations of service and I found my calling in 1997 when I became an assistant to a top producing real estate agent in Monson, Massachusetts. A move to Vermont in 1999 with my husband Bob brought us to Townshend.

I find real estate sales to be a very rewarding career as my customers and clients call me to serve. There is no manipulation, no compulsion, my sellers want to sell their home, my buyers want to purchase a home and they appreciate my experience, expertise and assistance as we work together to further those goals.

As Broker and Owner of Barrett & Valley Associates, Inc., I enjoy interaction with clients, customers, brokers and agents. Real Estate is never boring and I love the competitive business environment. This is a skill based industry with ever increasing technical and legislative changes. Our agents have a solid knowledge of the community which is imperative as the market becomes global. We perform our duties with an attitude of service and continue to remain at the top of sales in most of the towns where we work. The market may be international but real estate sales remain local and require knowledge that only local agents can offer.

I believe in education, and have earned the Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation as well as the Seller Representative Specialist (SRS) designation, Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) and am currently working towards the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®) designation and e-PRO® certification.

I currently serve as the President of the Crown Point Board of Realtors where I have previously served as President, Director and State Director receiving the coveted "Realtor of the Year" award. I have spent many years on the Townshend Planning Commission, three years as a town auditor and am a Director on Valley Cares Board. Family time is spent with our children, their spouses and our grandchildren.
