About Suzanne
As a member of the Century 21 Sail/Loft Realty Team Suzanne is here to help her clients buy or sell a home. Her office, located in the village of Oriental, NC specializes in Pamlico County properties. Suzanne has lived and worked in eastern North Carolina her entire life and has a vast knowledge of properties in this area. Her husband, Larry, continues the legacy started by his father Joe, when he opened the first real estate company in Oriental, NC in the 70's. Suzanne and Larry live here, play here, and they love it here!
Oriental and surrounding Pamlico County appeals to those who desire peace and quiet of country life, far from the noise and congestion of the city, and is located on some of the most beautiful waterways in the world. Joe Gwaltney coined the phrase “The Sailing Capital of North Carolina” for Oriental, and recognized that this well-kept hidden gem, is a water lover's paradise. Many folks come from all over the country to retire or to enjoy a vacation home in Oriental and surrounding Pamlico County.
Buying a new home is one of the largest financial transactions that most people ever undertake. Because the process can be lengthy and sometimes confusing, Suzanne wants her clients to know that she is here to help them through every step. Her goal is to help clients find the home of their dreams and make the home buying experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.
A graduate of East Carolina University, Suzanne earned a BA in Psychology and an EDS degree in Counselor Education. When she moved to New Bern, NC in 1975, Suzanne worked for the judicial system in Carteret, Craven and Pamlico Counties. She was a School Counselor for Pamlico County Schools for six years. After 30 years of employment with the state government, Suzanne retired in 2005 to join the team of Century 21 Sail/Loft Realty as an associate broker. Suzanne uses her “listening” experience as a counselor to help clients find the property they desire.
Suzanne is a member of the Oriental Women’s Club. She has also served on the Hodges Education Foundation, the Camp Seagull/Seafarer Outreach Committee, the Board of Directors for the Pamlico County Partnership for Children, the Pamlico County Criminal Justice Partnership, the Pamlico County Juvenile Prevention Council and the adjunct faculty of Wesleyan College.
Suzanne has always loved Pamlico County because it reminds her of the rural community where she grew up. Making a dream reality, Suzanne moved to Oriental, NC in 1991 and married Larry Gwaltney. Suzanne enjoys living on the Neuse River in Oriental, NC. Her favorite pastime is watching the boating activity and beautiful sunsets on the Neuse River. She and Larry also enjoy boating and exploring the river and creeks at their back door.
