About Theresa
I’m blessed to call Ashe County, NC my home. The beautiful countryside, incredible outdoor adventures, and charming local eateries and parks of West Jefferson create something rare and hard to define. It is this unique cross-section of natural beauty and inviting culture that inspires me as I work with clients to make their real estate dreams come true. As a proud partner in Gatewood Group Real Estate with my husband Jon, I’m honored to help buyers and sellers find optimal mountain home solutions.
Since becoming a licensed Realtor in 2015, I have worked with diverse clients and have been recognized with awards for Top Producing Realtor in North Carolina’s High Country. While my passion for real estate is evident in my work, my career path was not a straight line to where I am today. I’ve always been fascinated with the art and science of building. The way creativity and logic merge to construct great things inspired me to pursue architecture.
After graduating from Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI, I entered the world of construction management. As a Licensed General Contractor in Massachusetts, I worked on an array of projects that tested my skills and allowed me to develop new ones. This experience provided me the opportunity to work with several of the top Architecture firms in the Boston area and to acquire a deeper knowledge of the construction industry–knowledge that serves me and my clients today.
Additionally, after relocating to North Carolina, I held positions with Harmony Timberworks in Boone as Chief Operations Officer, and Carolina Timberworks in West Jefferson as Operations Manager. This experience played an important role in my building strong relationships and falling in love with the people and places of my new Carolina home.
Holding these diverse yet intertwined professional roles and studying architecture and construction management has helped me cultivate specific skills for understanding the ins and outs of real estate. Sharing my experience with High Country residents and those moving to the area from around the country has been a consistent joy. When I’m not working with clients, I can be found spending time with my husband Jon and our three dogs Talon, Jolene, and Lola, or out exploring the incredible beauty of the High Country.
