Her professional background includes 17 years at Pine Island Elementary School, where she served in various roles, including school librarian. She later worked at the Pine Island Public Library and Northwest Regional Library, retiring in 2018 as a children’s librarian.

Tonya is deeply involved in community service. She has been an active member of the Pine Island Kiwanis Club for nearly 20 years, serving multiple terms as president and board member, and leading the Fall Festival committee. She is Vice President of the Pine Island Playhouse, where she has performed, directed, and supported numerous productions. Her volunteer work also includes serving on the School Advisory Council and supporting Pine Island Elementary School.

Additionally, Tonya is a member of the Pine Island Moose and the Elks, and has served as a commissioner for the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District since 2014. She remains dedicated to supporting the Fire Department as it evolves to meet the needs of the Greater Pine Island community.
