I met Valerie Young at an open house in Edmonds in September 2018. I was not ready to buy at that time but thought, “Maybe I’ll meet a good real estate agent” …and I did! She was a wonderful listener, very knowledgeable and experienced, had a wonderful positive outlook on life and her profession, and her compassion for animals was the clincher for me.

Once I was financially able to consider a home purchase, we reviewed the listings every week and looked at a few houses. In mid-December we found a house that was a perfect location. Valerie insisted on a thorough inspection including a full sewer scope which in fact turned up an issue which was fixed by the sellers. The listing agent and Valerie had the same commitment to helping people and worked so well together that the sellers offered to finance my purchase until I could sell my own home—something almost unheard of in our strong real estate market. Valerie coordinated everything while I was on a 3-week vacation, meeting various workpeople at the house while I was away.

Then the real miracle happened! Valerie told the other agent about my house and as it happened, she had been working with buyers for 8 months trying to find a house to meet their strict requirements and since mine sounded like a possible match, decided to show them my house. Those buyers bought my house for full price 3 weeks after I closed on my new home—it never had to go on the market. My financing costs only lasted 3 weeks because of this collaboration between the two agents.

What started as a broker/client relationship has turned into a true friendship. She has helped me in so many ways far beyond her duties as an agent. I never realized that a home in the perfect location could change my life and bring so much happiness. I love being able to walk to downtown, the library, the waterfront, parks, and all around this friendly neighborhood. I am so grateful that I met Valerie and am honored to have her as a friend.
