Round Lake is one of four villages in north-central Lake County, Illinois, highlighting Round Lake in its name. After its founding as an ice-cutting industry town near the southwest shore of its namesake lake in 1909, Round Lake’s leaders weren’t particularly aggressive about annexing additional land. With just under 18,500 residents, the Village of Round Lake is the second-largest Round Lake Area community. With a median home value of around $280,000, Round Lake has the highest median home value of the Round Lake Area communities.
