Featuring an idyllic setting, the Grosse Pointe Academy serves preschool through eighth grade students in Grosse Pointe Farms as a private school and designated Michigan State Historic Site. Designed in 1885 by William Schickel, Maginnis & Walsh, Grosse Pointe Academy showcases Gothic and Tudor Revival and Italianate style architecture.
Grosse Pointe Academy's curriculum is based on key principles of learning that include: intellectual curiosity, empathy, leadership, independence, global citizenship, critical thinking and effective communication.
An early childhood education at Grosse Pointe Academy features Montessori approaches to development. In lower school years, the language arts, science, mathematics and social studies are emphasized and students participate in hands-on learning experiences that include incubating duck eggs, poetry slams and participating in a nutrition fair.
Middle schoolers incorporate world languages, Christian life, physical education and literature into their studies, with STEAM subjects, classes in financial literacy or the performing arts as elective options.
Grosse Pointe Academy's Bulldogs are tenacious athletes competing in cross country, volleyball, tennis, basketball, soccer and lacrosse, and students can choose to enhance their academic lives with extracurricular activities in cooking, chess, STEAM and yoga and many other pursuits.
