Great experience I would recommend. Great teachers, good and supportive community and overall just a positive environment. They do a week of honoring and knowledgeable about prevention of suicide and mental health week.

I am in my second semester at Southwest High School. I have lived in the area my entire life and the community of Lincoln has always been so friendly. It mostly applies to all the students and staff at Southwest. I can't help but notice a lot of the students at school always seem so depressed or unmotivated. It might just be a phase or how we were raised but I remember when school was fun and people wanted to go. The teachers at Southwest really vary. I have had teachers I've loved and teachers who aren't my type of teachers. The block schedule is something I thought I wouldn't like but it's actually pretty nice. You aren't going to 7 or 8 classes in one day and it's good to have time to cover lots of information and ask questions after. I would say the only con is when you have a bad class and you just have to wait however long till it gets over. All in all Southwest is an average high school.

My kids have had a great experience at Southwest. The block schedule moves through the material more quickly, but students then have only 4 classes at a time to keep track of. Southwest is a very well built school. All of the staff really cares about every single student that attends Southwest each and everyday. Southwest has a big virility of sports, clubs, and activities to get involved in. Along with only having four classes a day is amazing.GO SOUTHWEST SILVER HAWKS!!
