I.S. 77 in Ridgewood was renamed after former principal and superintendent Joseph F. Quinn in 2021. Quinn was an unforgettable leader in the Ridgewood community and the entire District 24. The current superintendent of District 24 is Madelene Chan.
In the Ridgewood neighborhood, as part of the New York public school district, breakfast and lunch meals follow USDA nutrition guidelines, providing students with free fresh and delicious foods. The school atmosphere is supportive and committed to creating a family of learners. I.S. 77 cultivates a supportive environment that values education and tailors the learning experience for each student to meet their needs and abilities.
The main school was built in 1911, and a new annex was added in 2002. The structure can accommodate approximately 1300 students. Many students take a Foreign Language or the school's dual language program in Spanish and English. The dual language program is open to students located throughout Queens, while students primarily from District 24 attend I.S. 77.

I liked that we can wear different color school shirts because that can really define you and your favorite color or colors and that they were really strict with the u inform policy because they were trying to teach us that life isn't always fair but you still need to respect their customs and how they do things around there

My son attended Always spoke about the bullies. I spoke to administration they assured me After his last day of school, he wouldn’t attend graduation I insisted then he broke down, today he still lost his will, not motivated, he’s 21 years old now& he still brings up the bulling experience
