Why Live in Westbury
Westbury is an art-loving, multicultural melting pot on the eastern side of Long Island, bringing two aspects many love about New York City into the suburbs. “To me, one of the main attractions of Westbury is its diversity,” says Wendy Liotti, an associate broker and team leader of the Rowan Team at Compass who has lived in Westbury for over 40 years and serves as a board member on Westbury’s Chamber of Commerce. “Westbury is a very diverse community; it welcomes and encourages diverse cultures.” It’s a sentiment that Mayor Peter Cavallaro echoes. “Our community motto, ‘A community for all seasons,’ reflects that diversity and a welcoming for all people who want to be in a vibrant and active community,” he says.
There are other reasons Westbury’s little downtown has become so popular. “The village is very, very supportive of business and the arts, and there’s been a lot of revitalization,” Liotti says. “A couple of years ago, Westbury received a $10 million grant, and that’s gone toward ... new sidewalks, new facades and new crossing areas. Westbury is really becoming a destination.” Cavallaro says the community has improved infrastructure, streetscapes and amenities in the past
