Just north of Midtown East, Bridge Tower Place takes its name from its prominent location near the Queensboro Bridge. Built in 1999, the 38-story tower was designed by architect Costas Kondylis, who was described in 1996 in New York Magazine as having “probably designed as many Manhattan buildings as any other living architect.” Kondylis died in 2018, leaving a legacy of more than 80 buildings, including the Atelier Condominiums and the Trump International Hotel and Tower near Columbus Circle. For Bridge Tower Place, Kondylis conceived a stone base with bronze-tinted glass, meant as a design nod toward the nearby bridge. Just to the side of the main tower, a 10-floor wing historically housed rentals, which are now being sold as sponsor units. While many residences are occupied full-time and appreciated as family spaces, the building is also friendly to renters and investors.
Studios to four-bedrooms with room for customization
The building’s 218 units include studios to four-bedrooms, though a couple of combined units can also be found. Windows are double-paned, keeping the residences quiet, and allowing in ample natural light, even on lower floors. Most units feature hardwood flooring, marble countertops in the bathrooms, and in-unit washer/dryers. Some owners have made extensive customizations, moving walls, expanding kitchens and installing high-end cabinetry. A studio with a sleeping alcove and galley kitchen might cost $650,000. A two-bedroom with Midtown and Queensboro Bridge views runs about $2 million. A three-bedroom on a high floor with floor-to-ceiling windows, chef’s kitchen and custom finishes has listed for $3.2 million.
A rooftop deck and practical amenities spaces
From the 11th floor roof deck residents get an incredible view over the Queensboro Bridge. Comfortable couches and seating areas line the terrace, inviting visitors to relax, read, or work in the fresh air, and a portion of the deck offers a glimpse of the East River. The amenities at Bridge Tower Place have been designed for function and regular use. A fitness center offers a variety of equipment and free weights and a primary-colored children’s playroom has tables and toys to keep kids entertained. The lobby at Bridge Tower Place is simple and serviceable, attended by a doorman and concierge, who greet residents with familiarity and provide a sense of comfort for those who call the building home. Monthlies are typically on the low end, which is a plus, but elevators can be slow. A parking garage is conveniently located next door.
An east side location with convenient shopping at Bridge Market Plaza
At East 60th Street and First Avenue, Bridge Tower Place’s location situates it between Lenox Hill and Sutton Place, a short walk from the East River, and just north of the Queensboro Bridge. The retail space on the building’s ground floor, previously anchored by Bed Bath & Beyond, is currently vacant but there are expectations for a new retail tenant. There is a Starbucks in the building, with other coffee shops just a short walk down First Avenue. Across the street from Bridge Tower Place, Bridge Market Plaza includes Trader Joe’s and TJ Maxx, making shopping and groceries easily accessible. A block east Andrew Haswell Green Park invites walkers up a concrete path looking out toward Roosevelt Island and connecting to the East River Esplanade. Weill Cornell medical facilities are a six-minute walk away and both Bloomingdale’s and Home Depot are a seven-minute walk west on Third Avenue. Bridge Tower Place’s location can be a plus or minus — it can feel like a little bit of a hike from the subway. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the 4 and 5 and 6 trains at 59th Street and a little longer to the F and Q trains at Lexington Avenue/63rd Street. For commuters to Roosevelt Island, the Roosevelt Island tramway at East 60th and Second Avenue is just two blocks away.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
