Terrace Meadows is a southeastern Kokomo neighborhood known close to major employers and retail centers. The mostly residential community features a variety of custom-built homes, including mid-century ranch-style properties, split-levels and contemporary houses, as well as single-story brick condos. Terrace Meadows is close to State Road 931, which provides a straightforward 30-mile route to Indianapolis' northern suburbs, as well as easy access to local manufacturers and the hospital. The neighborhood falls within the Taylor school district, with students attending Taylor Elementary, Taylor Middle School, and Taylor High School. Some parts of the neighborhood are zoned for Kokomo schools. Both Kokomo High and Taylor High are known for their strong high school sports culture, particularly basketball. The neighborhood borders the Kokomo American Legion Golf Course and Jackson Morrow Park, the latter of which features trails, a skatepark and the Kirkendall Interpretive Nature Center. Dining and shopping can be found along along State Road 931, with options ranging from chains like Applebee’s to local favorites such as Jack’s Donuts and Half Moon Restaurant and Brewery. The neighborhood experiences significant semi-truck traffic due to its proximity to major manufacturing plant. While the area has a history of tornadoes, the last fatal one occurred in 1965.
