Alderton’s long stretches of country roads with a serene evergreen backdrop offers residents a welcome embrace to a rural retreat. Located in central Pierce County, this community hasn’t strayed far from its agricultural roots after being settled by homesteaders in the late 1800s, with an abundance of properties that sit on expansive, farm-like lots that can reach up to an acre of land. Many homes throughout the area start out in the $600,000 range, including a spacious two-bedroom rambler for $690,000, and can reach up to $950,000 for midcentury homes on a jumbo-sized lot. Potential residents can build their dream home in the community with spacious lots available for sale. Alderton is also home to an age-restricted manufactured home community that offers various newly built properties with modern interior amenities.

Alderton’s agrarian roots are proudly displayed in the various farms throughout the community, allowing residents to buy locally-made products right in the neighborhood. For a day outdoors, residents can head to Riverside Park. Nestled against the Puyallup River, this 50-acre park is a great spot for kayaking or tubing along the river. The park is also home to a popular 18-hole disc golf course that takes you through a forested landscape for added difficulty. The park’s BMX course hosts races and tournaments throughout most of the year, including the Rally at the Valley competition. If you want to go for a peaceful walk, head to the Foothills Trail, a multi-use path with scenic views of Mt. Rainier and towering evergreen trees.

Students attending public schools in the neighborhood will be part of the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District, with some students starting their education journey as a Daffodil Valley Elementary School Dolphin. Daffodil Valley Elementary is a 1:1 technology school, meaning all students receive Chromebooks to assist in their learning, and it also offers Special Education and counseling services for students. Next up will be Sumner Middle School, which has received an 8/10 rating from GreatSchools, offering various extracurricular clubs, sports programs, and daily lunch activities for midday fun. Sumner Senior High School is a B+ rated school according to Niche, offering the IB Diploma Program as well as its Career and College Readiness program.

Though the community is set in a secluded countryside setting, residents are just a short distance from amenities throughout Pierce County. The area provides great proximity to downtown Puyallup, which is only 4 miles away and only about 7 miles from the many shops and dining options in Sumner. Alderton offers plenty of nearby conveniences, with a relaxed country setting waiting for residents at home.
