A walkable west side neighborhood
Anchored by its namesake park, Vet's Park Triangle is a west-side neighborhood surrounded by walkable attractions. "Location is paramount because it's within walking distance to Veterans Park, shopping, Knights Steakhouse, which is one of the iconic spots in Ann Arbor, and you're only a mile or so from downtown," says Lisa Stelter, associate broker with The Charles Reinhart Company who has sold two homes in the neighborhood. It's a small area united under an unofficial neighborhood association, and it's rare to see a house on the market here.
Swimming, skating and sledding at Veterans Park
Veterans Memorial Park sits along the neighborhood's west side and is one of the liveliest recreational hubs in the city. It has five baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, walking paths and a playground. It also features Ann Arbor Skatepark, the city's largest skate park, with bowls, stairs and ramps for trying out tricks. During the summer, kids can enjoy the swimming pool, and when the snow starts to fall, the park transforms into a premier sledding spot. The park's Ice Arena also opens during the colder weather, bringing free skating and hockey leagues.
Veterans Memorial Park Pool features a dedicated splash zone and figure eight waterslide.
Ball games organized by multiple leagues happen regularly at Veterans Memorial Park.

Close to grocery stores and a public library
One of the more convenient neighborhoods in Ann Arbor for reaching big-brand stores, Vet's Park Triangle sits adjacent to two shopping centers – Maple Village and Westgate. Residents can take a leisurely walk through Veterans Park to reach stores like HomeGoods, Dunham Sports or T.J. Maxx, or make weekly grocery runs with a stop at Plum Market or Kroger. The Westgate Branch of the Ann Arbor Library also sits in those strip malls. After its expansion in 2015, the branch has a coffee shop and a large kids' area. It hosts regular events like trivia and preschool storytime.

Old-school steakhouse and a new local bakery
The area has plenty of restaurant options, including the iconic Knight's Steakhouse. The sign inside Knight's door reads 'Enter as strangers, leave as friends', and that slogan has rung true since the restaurant first opened its doors in 1984. Just south of the neighborhood, HOMES Brewery has an outdoor patio where visitors can enjoy some of the city's best IPAs alongside innovative Asian-fusion cuisine. Asian fusion is also on the menu at Q Bakehouse & Market, which joins the existing Strider Coffee Shop to create a one-stop spot for pastries and coffee. The chili crisp scones are the best-selling item, and the store's market is stocked with Asian pantry staples and frozen dumplings made in-house. "I can't tell you how many people come in from the neighborhood and say that they are so happy to have a bakery within walking distance," says owner Rachel Liu Martindale, who opened Q Bakehouse in February 2024. "And when the weather gets cold this winter, I plan to hold baking and cooking classes here, too."
Family-owned since 1952, Knight's Steakhouse in Vet's Park Triangle serves fresh-ground burgers.

Modest homes with a community feel
Narrow sidewalks wind through the wooded streets of Vet's Park Triangle, which has a charming, family-friendly feel. Kids' toys sit out on front lawns in the summer, and pumpkins adorn front stoops in the fall. The homes here are usually around 800 to 1,500 square feet – smaller than nearby neighborhoods, Quaint Cape Cods, bungalows and Colonial-inspired properties date back to the 1940s and '50s, and many come with detached garages. Prices range from $400,000 to $600,000 depending on size. "The price per square foot in the area is going to be cheaper than some other areas closer into the city, like Old West Side," Stelter says. Houses fly off the market here, but that's the case across most of Ann Arbor. "The inventory throughout Ann Arbor is at an all-time low, so sellers anywhere will have multiple offers within just a few days," Stelter attests.
Stylish trim and custom mailboxes give Vet's Park Triangle an authentic Ann Arbor vibe.

Just over a mile from downtown Ann Arbor
Downtown Ann Arbor is about 1 to 1.5 miles away, depending on home location. Many residents enjoy walking along sidewalk-lined streets to all the restaurant and boutique options. Downtown is home to the University of Michigan and the University Hospital, two of the area's biggest employers. There's also a bus line that runs into the city, and though there aren't designated bike lanes all the way there, it's still a doable ride.
