Tanger Outlet Mall is a large shopping mall in Summerfield Village.
Developing Nashville community with promising future
Attractions are trickling into the area surrounding Summerfield Village, one of several subdivisions making up the southern end of Nashville’s Antioch community. A big step was taken in late 2023 when the Tanger Outlets Nashville opened right off Interstate 24. Name brands like Nike, Adidas and J. Crew put stores right in the community’s backyard, and many have enjoyed the site’s open spaces and artistic fixtures. “They’re really starting to develop around the outlet mall,” says Kent Patterson, a Realtor with Southern Life Real Estate, who’s made a few sales in the Summerfield Village area. “There’s some nice apartments around there. I fully anticipate townhomes and condos going in, as well as new subdivisions.” Mill Ridge Park on Old Hickory Boulevard opened just before the outlet mall and brought in a modern playground, colorful basketball court and enough green space to host activities like outdoor yoga sessions. “I would say, uniquely to Nashville, it is still an affordable area, and I would say it’s diverse. It houses a lot of our immigrants who come to Tennessee,” says Denise Moore, a broker with Benchmark Realty LLC, who’s made a few sales in the Summerfield Village area. “And it’s also very attractive to businesses because there are areas out there where there’s still affordability for them, as well. So, like the Tanger Outlets.”
Summerfield Village is a newer development with walkable sidewalks.
Subdivisions with new townhouses and single-family houses
Groups of new Traditional, contemporary and Craftsman houses along hilly roads pack several of the subdivisions here. The houses show a variety of sidings that include vinyl, stone veneer, wood and brick. Some also exhibit craftier touches like half-timbered exteriors and jerkinhead roofs. Many lots come with compact yards and short driveways, and narrow walking paths winding between lush road verges and front lawns allow for easy strolls through the neighborhoods. “It’s a good mix of apartments, townhouses and single-family,” Moore says, adding that townhouses are particularly common and have helped with affordability. “It makes that first step possible for a lot of people.” With size a factor, price points for houses here can go from about $360,000 to $515,000. Many townhouses, again with size playing a role, run between roughly $250,000 and $315,000.
Tanger Outlets offers a premier shopping experience near Summerfield Village.
Bargains and dining institutions at Tanger Outlets
In addition to finding name brand items at reduced prices, Tanger Outlets shoppers enjoy its outdoor spaces. During its first holiday season, children ran around in excitement in front of a tree covered in purple lights. One of the more than dozen is a bubble-themed piece with “Nashville Forever” written across it. In front of the mural, shoppers needing a break can sit back on one of several lawn chairs placed around a firepit. The mall is home to one of Nashville-based TailGate Brewery’s several taprooms, where patrons enjoy flights of craft beers and artisan pizzas. The brewery also has an outdoor patio complete with picnic style tables. Prince’s Hot Chicken is another Nashville chain and institution with a spot at the outlet mall. The restaurant is known for its spicy fried chicken and down home sides like baked beans and greens. Off Bell Road on the other side of the community is the Global Mall property, which is going through a facelift. Nashville chain Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria has a location here, and artisan pizzas aren’t the only doughy treats coming fresh out of its ovens. Choices at the hip hop-themed establishment include the Big Poppa Pizza and the Too Short Cakes, cinnamon rolls covered with toppings like strawberry glaze sauce. A nearby Kroger provides a nearby grocery shopping option.
Mill Ridge Park near Summerfield Village has outdoor fitness equipment.
New fun spot in Mill Ridge Park
Mill Ridge Park has been a top attraction since it opened in 2023. Children flock to the playground every day and enjoy getting on the 52-foot slide or climbing the jungle gym. Other fun fixtures include an enclosed bridge made out of rope and a merry-go-round with multiple levels for sitting and standing. With looping trails and large pavilions, the green space is ideal for strolls, jogs and gatherings like picnics and community events. Activities that have occurred on the green spaces have included outdoor sessions for beginner yogis. The park is currently about 15 acres, but plans call for it to stretch to well over 600 acres. Added to the Global Mall site in 2014, the Ford Ice Center has been a destination for public ice skating and other activities like curling and hockey. Down the road, TNT’s Billiards Bar & Grill draws both casual and competitive pool players and there’s additional entertainment in the form of darts and arcade games that include golf simulations.
