Archer Lodge is a Raleigh suburb still growing
A farming community incorporated in 2009, Archer Lodge combines a burgeoning atmosphere with a small-town character. “This area has grown a lot within the last 5 years,” says Deborah Deal, a Realtor with Allen Tate Realtors who has sold several homes in the area. “Because it’s a quiet, rural area near busier cities like Clayton and Raleigh.” The neighborhood has a bustling community center and several recreational hubs, including Archer Lodge Town Park, which opened in 2024. While the town has been steadily changing, it still likes to keep things local, like Archer Lodge Express hosting rotating food trucks. The convenience store was formerly C.E. Barnes Store — which stood for 96 years before being purchased by new owners in 2023.

Archer Lodge is comprised of suburbs and custom country estates
Many of Archer Lodge’s residential streets are lined with transitional-style homes from the late 1990s and early 2000s. These three-to-four-bedroom homes have spacious front porches, two-car garages and half-acre lots. The Riverwood subdivision also has Cape Cod cottages and modern farmhouses built within the last five years. “Acreage is the biggest selling point,” Deal says. “The last house I sold here was on about 2 acres. The open house was packed, and it sold within a week because everyone wanted the land.” Whether or not the house is on a working farm, ranch-styles and other custom-built country estates can sit on lots as big as 5 acres. Homes here cost between $230,000 and $870,000.

In addition to a lighted walking trail, playground and amphitheater, the center hosts a variety of events, including Archer Lodge Family Fun Day. The baseball diamonds and soccer fields host youth and adult leagues. Archer Lodge also benefits from the many recreational hubs surrounding the Neuse River, including Riverwood Golf Club. Locals can pick up produce from numerous farmsteads
Locals can go to Pace Family Farms along Buffalo Road to pick their own produce, including kale and sweet potatoes in the fall. The bountiful strawberry fields make late spring the busiest season, but fresh eggs and bulk beef are available year-round. The Market at Riverwood in the town's northwestern region also provides essentials. Residents can grab groceries at Food Lion or eat from a few locally owned restaurants, like Las Costenas. The eatery adds Mexican flare to various dishes, from the jalapeno burger to the red snapper served atop rice and beans. Coffee enthusiasts can find organic lattes and freshly made bagels from 9Bar. “Archer Lodge doesn’t have a downtown district,” Deal says. “Most people go to Clayton for anything nightlife or city-related.” Those looking for a more bustling city center can drive 7 miles west toward Clayton’s core, filled with public art, breweries and boutiques.

Car-dependent but close to the interstate
Archer Lodge’s residential streets rarely have sidewalks, and the town has no public transportation options. However, Interstate 87 is 10 miles north, and another 10-mile trip west on the highway leads to Raleigh.
