A suburban area with urban flare
Found just six miles south of downtown Arlington, the mixed-use community of Fairfield puts its residents near all the action without complete urban immersion. With a large commercial area to the north of the neighborhood and the Arlington Municipal Airport to the east, the neighborhood stays busy – but a large portion of it is reserved for the residential streets of subdivisions. With nearby well-ranked schools and immediate access to parks, Fairfield has the ingredients of a thriving suburban area while still maintaining the edge that gives it an urban flare. It's connected to main thoroughfares and local businesses and is just 15 minutes from the excitement of downtown events.
Matlock Park Place offers Fairfield residents many dining and shopping options.

Visual unity and great price points in Fairfield
Homes in Fairfield follow a trend of similar architectural styles and materials, many built at the end of the 20th century, with some 21st-century contemporary homes added later. Minimal traditional and ranch-style properties are common, along with large homes with neo-eclectic influence. The exterior of many houses sport brick facades, tiered roofing, and attached garages that protrude as a focal point. The subdivisions of Fairfield may have visual unity, but some have additional amenities, such as in-ground pools and privacy fencing. "This is a pretty affordable area compared to Arlington as a whole," says Blake Burtis, a local real estate agent with Rogers Healy and Associates who's made several sales in the area. "But you still get three or four bedrooms and at least 1,500 square feet of space, so it's a great deal." Detached properties sell for a median of $290,000, reaching $350,000 for luxury amenities or additional square footage.
Local business along Matlock Road
Most daily essentials can be found without straying far from the neighborhood. A Walmart Neighborhood Market, CVS and Family Dollar all operate around the intersection of Matlock and West Sublett Road. There are plenty of fast-casual options when it comes to food, but the locally run restaurants that are scattered in and around Fairfield are worth stopping in for something unique. The exhibition kitchen of Sunny Thai offers a window into watching the cooks stir-fry spiced noodle dishes and chop fresh herbs, while Chef Miguel Salas of Haciendas Taco Shop puts slow-braised Guajillo brisket and grilled shrimp into handmade tortillas.
Fairfield's Neighborhood Walmart offers great deals on daily essentials.

Smart starts and college prep in Fairfield
Public schools belong to the Arlington Independent School District, and kids can start at Williams Elementary, which is graded with an overall C-plus on Niche but an A for diversity. Students move on to Ousley Junior High, which receives a B-plus on Niche and is ranked in the top percentile of standout middle schools in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area, before finishing basic education at Seguin High. With an A-minus on Niche, Sequin excels in preparing students for post-graduation; their Go-Center offers programs, counseling and study aids for students interested in university.
Heading to the elaborate Cravens Park
Cravens Park helps to keep residents close to nature along its expansive grounds. Cravens Park features a fishing pier, playground, baseball-softball diamonds, tennis courts, basketball goals and a walking bridge over the Fish Creek. Connected to the 86-acre Cravens Park is the Fish Creek Trail, a 232-acre linear park with a paved trail that spans horizontally over 6 miles for walking, running or biking; also linked to the park is the Tails' N Trails Dog Park.
Tennis courts at Cravens Park are available for Fairfield residents to improve their skills.

Interstate 20 provides Fairfield residents an easy way to get around town.
Easy commuter access from home
Daily commuters will come to know the Ronald Reagan Highway 20 very well, as the significant thoroughfare runs along the north of the neighborhood and connects to the greater metroplex. "Being a little removed from all the action can be a draw for some homebuyers, but you'll still be within half an hour of almost everything major," Burtis says. Arlington has limited public transportation, so potential residents should note that it's a car-dependent area.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
