Neighborhood in Arlington, Texas
Tarrant County 76012
Sandwiched between Dallas and Fort Worth and just 2 miles west of Downtown Arlington, Randol Mill is in proximity to an array of attractions and entertainment options all while being a straight shot from the action of the city. "What makes it a neighborhood that I love is that it doesn't feel like a designed neighborhood as much," says local Realtor Jared Vidrine, who has been selling homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex for a decade.
Randol Mill's tree-shaded, cul-de-sac-heavy streets primarily feature ranch-style homes with hipped roofs, though you'll also find split-level properties and townhouses. A smaller, 1,500-square-foot property can price between $250,000 and $350,000 while larger homes with four bedrooms can range from $350,000 to upwards of $450,000. The housing market in Randol Mill is relatively competitive with many homes being sold within four to five weeks. "It's more of like a northeastern style of home building than it is straight Texas. It's like a 'Texas-ified' northeastern homes. It's a really cool neighborhood," Vidrine says.
Students in Randol Mill go to schools under the Arlington Independent School District umbrella. Children from pre-K to Grade 6 may go to Pope Elementary School, which earns an overall Niche grade of B-minus, before moving on to the B-graded Shackelford Junior High School. Teens can attend Lamar High School off West Lamar Boulevard. Earning an overall grade of B from Niche, the high school offers a competitive athletics program that has produced several world-class athletes including former Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson.
Randol Mill Park is stationed at the neighborhood's northside. Take the kids to the playground after school or hit the baseball fields for batting practice. Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center is an area hot spot for locals to cool off in the scorching summer heat. You can also spend an afternoon at O.S. Gray Natural Area for a picnic among the park's wildflowers or a jog along its paved, shaded paths. The neighborhood's westside comes to life around the holidays. Gather the family and cruise down Westwood Drive for views of The Lights at Interlochen. A neighborhood tradition for over 40 years, the annual Christmas celebration is a free attraction made possible by locals in Arlington's northwestern corner. "Interlochen is famous for the Christmas lights. If you're growing up as a kid, you wish your parents lived there," Vidrine says. "It'll take you an hour and a half to drive through that area the week before Christmas because people are just constantly driving through that neighborhood to look at the Christmas lights."
Sports fans will be on cloud nine with AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, just 2 miles east. Capable of seating up to 100,000 fans, the retractable-roof sports cathedral has hosted numerous significant sporting events from the Super Bowl to the Big 12 Championship Game. It will also host matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The stadium neighbors Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, and Choctaw Stadium and sits 2 miles west of Six Flags Over Texas, which draws guests from all over the world thanks to its 14 roller coasters.
For groceries, drive to Fielder Plaza just off West Randol Mill Road and pick up fresh meats and produce from the neighborhood Tom Thumb or visit Dollar General for other daily essentials. Retail stores can be found at Lincoln Square a quick drive east off North Collins Street. If you're eating out, you won't want to miss Burger Basket & Grill. The eatery is a local favorite for its all-day breakfast menu and large selection of specialty sandwiches and burgers. You can also head to Fattoush, which serves a wide selection of classic Mediterranean entrees from kebabs to falafels. Afterward, stop by Braum's for a banana split to ease your sweet tooth.
While Randol Mill is in proximity to numerous attractions, restaurants and parks, you'll still likely need a car to get around. Randol Mill locals do have good road access, though. The Tom Landry Freeway serves as the neighborhood's northern border and feeds directly into both Dallas and Fort Worth. Just 13 miles from Fort Worth and 21 miles from Dallas, locals can expect to get to the city within 30 minutes.
