Settle down in Chester Township for a variety of home options and a convenient location. “It’s a great location for someone who wants to be close to the city without being right in the middle of it,” says Megan Toll, a local Realtor with Keller Williams Philadelphia. “People like the easy access to main highways and having the city, the airport, Delaware and New Jersey right across the river, all within a few minute range. Chester Township lets you be close to wherever you work or play.”

You’ll find brick rowhomes, split levels, Colonial revival and ranch-style homes in Chester Township. Rowhomes can go for anywhere from $50,000 to $380,000 while one-story single-family homes and the occasional two-story option go for $175,000 to $500,000. Home sizes range from 1,000 to 3,000 square feet and they sit on lots from 3,000 square feet to just under an acre. Established homes were built mostly between the 1920s and 1950s. Mixed material exteriors are a common design and add texture to the neighborhood’s curb appeal. Spacious front porches overlook lush green lawns and are joined by the added convenience of two-car garages.

Students in Chester Township can attend Toby Farms Intermediate School and participate in programs like Success for All Reading and Everyday Mathematics. Extracurricular options include football, basketball and volleyball. Northley Middle School is another option that received a B-minus rating from Niche and serves about 750 students with a student-teacher ratio of 15 to 1. Both the school’s teachers and academics rate highly as well. Sun Valley High School received a B rating from Niche and is the only high school in the district. The school offers strong sports programs, with cheerleading and ice hockey especially, which have both made waves in state and national championships.

There are plenty of places to stretch your legs and get some fresh air, like Chester Creek Trail, a rail trail that follows the creek along a branch of Civil War-era Pennsylvania railroad tracks. Upland Park is a nearby option stretching across 60 acres that contains everything from a playground and picnic tables to sports fields and hiking opportunities. The park was once a summer camp for kids, but its new setup is welcoming to all ages thanks to the Redwood Community Center. The center hosts free activities for local seniors like line dancing, fitness classes and social events.

Kick back with a drink at 2SP Brewing Company, a full-service brewery complete with a tasting room and delicious drinks like Pony Boi, Baby Bob and Fuzzy Math. If you’re hungry, grab a slice from Pappone’s Pizza, a family-owned eatery serving Italian classics that include everything from pizza to hoagies to pasta. Don’t forget to try some of their amazing garlic breadsticks. Cooper’s Super Bar is the local watering hole and the place to be for bar grub and funky neon decor.

Other popular spots in the neighborhood include Linvilla Orchards, a local favorite for gathering Fall pumpkins. Residents enjoy attending hockey games year-round at Ice Works. And if you’ve been bitten by the shopping bug, The Village Green Shopping Center is close by and has everything from Big Lots to Family Dollar.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
