A suburban golfing community in Browns Mill Park

It's all about the neighbor at Browns Mill Park in South Atlanta. Located next to one of five public golf courses managed by the city, Browns Mill Park is a suburb of over 2,000 people with abundant park life, a small network of community churches and a new fire station that just broke ground in late 2024. Not only do residents enjoy the outdoor recreation that comes with the local walking and biking trails, but Browns Mill Park residents also maintain their own urban food forest in the northeast that supplies the community with fruit, herbs and vegetables. "The people are very friendly," Orchard Knob resident Amir Faheed Ail Muwwakkil says. "It's a typical middle-class neighborhood."

Parks, preserves and page-turners at the local library

With the golf course taking up over an acre on the neighborhood's east side, tee times are always busy in Browns Mill Park's 18-hole golf course. Boating and kayaking are everyday activities on the South River Water Trail while walking trails and natural forestry are waiting at the Swann Preserve to the north. The local playground is at the Cleveland Avenue Branch Library, which also provides the community with its daily reading material. "You've got the library, you've got a nice 18-hole golf course," Muwwakkil says. "It's a good community."
