A historical town within urban Atlanta
A wooded oasis north of Atlanta, Buckhead Forest is a small suburban neighborhood with a rich history and natural sights. Founded in 1923, the neighborhood retains many of its original homes, though the area does have new condos being built. Natural parks and forested areas are easy to access as much of the neighborhood itself is lined with dense clusters of trees. Buckhead Village provides various shopping and upscale dining options, and bus stops and well-kept sidewalks make walking around the area easy.

Historical bungalows on forest-lined streets
As one of the first neighborhoods founded in the northern Atlanta area in 1923, Buckhead Forest retains its historical character with many original bungalows. While some are being renovated or replaced with more modern houses and condominiums, several still stand among the forests that line the four main streets of the neighborhood. Some multifamily housing can also be found from that era, though the buildings have been repurposed as condos priced around $600,000, while the single-family homes run anywhere from $700,000 to over $1.5 million. Cost highly depends on square footage and the home's features, such as those with column-lined entryways, sable windows and roofs and alcove porches, reaching higher prices. Condos built around the 2000s provide a relatively more affordable option, with some units being offered between $150,000 and $550,000.

Mall shopping just outside the neighborhood at Buckhead Village
“Buckhead Village was made to be like the Rodeo Drive of the South,” says Atlanta realtor Anne Jefferson Connell, who has lived in Atlanta for 23 years. While the area doesn’t have the same luxury shops as Rodeo Drive, it does feature several high-end restaurants. The shopping plaza sits just across the street from the neighborhood but is an ever-social hub of restaurants, local and larger shops and markets, and classic chain stores, like Sephora. Locals can shop at Trader Joe’s or Aldi on their way to a meal at one of the many restaurants including Le Colonial Atlanta, which serves French-Vietnamese cuisine, and Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse. For a more casual option still in the neighborhood, Big Ketch Saltwater Grill offers a dine-in area for families.

An oasis in the city
With plenty of forested areas in another otherwise urban-centric environment, nature is steps away even in the middle of the greater city area. Outside of neighborhood woods, Chastain Park provides miles of walking trails and several fields for little league and recreational sports, including tennis, soccer and football. “It’s one of the best places in Buckhead,” said long-time resident Aditya Bhatia, who frequents the Cadence Bank Amphitheatre as one of his favorite spots. "It's the kind of area that appeals to everyone.” Buckhead Theater is an also welcoming venue that sits across the street from Charlie Loudermilk Park, known as a local green oasis in the heart of the city. Both theaters show concerts of touring artists, comedy shows, and stage productions.

Only have been here for a month, but I really enjoy the location and how close it is to downtown. I can walk my dog all over the place, and I feel safe in the area.
