In Harland Terrace, a West Atlanta neighborhood, residents can find a space that fits their needs. The residential community has housing prices below other Atlanta neighborhoods and a location close to major highways. “Being close to interstates 20 and 285, it's a convenient area in terms of getting where you need to go,” says Teri Mannino, a sales advisor at Chapman Hall Realty. The neighborhood also has a mix of restaurants and shops that can keep residents close to home.
Harland Terrace is located south of Downtown Atlanta away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Convenient access to Downtown Atlanta and Six Flags Over Georgia
Interstate 20, also known as Ralph David Abernathy Freeway, is just north of the neighborhood, while Interstate 285 is to the west. Downtown Atlanta is just over 5 miles east. The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, or MARTA, operates a bus system in the region, and several stops can be found along Peyton Place Southwest and M.L.K. Jr. Drive Southwest. Downtown Atlanta is just over 5 miles east, while Six Flags Over Georgia is close to 5 miles west. Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is less than 15 miles away. The neighborhood has a relatively moderate risk of tornadoes and lightning, and heavy storms can cause downed trees and power lines.
Condos and single-family homes in a renter-heavy neighborhood
The community has several condos that can range from $100,000 to $140,000. “A lot of the time, investors purchase there to turn them into rentals,” Mannino says. Nearly 90% of area residents rent their living spaces, but there are traditional single-family homes that can range from $270,000 to $350,000. Neighborhood streets like Peyton Place Southwest and Harland Road Southwest are lined with trees and other plants, and sidewalks are uncommon. The neighborhood has a CAP Index Crime Score of 6 out of 10, higher than the national average of 4. This overall score is driven by high scores in violent crime.

Local barbecue and Southern restaurants and the West Ridge Shopping Center
The Bando serves wings and hot dogs and has a mix of art and local history displayed on its walls. A1 Soul Food serves Southern comfort entrees. The Pig, Da Cow and Da Chicken has barbecue platters and burgers. West Ridge Shopping Center has a Wayfield Foods supermarket and a Simply 10 boutique among other tenants. For more extensive retail shopping, Greenbriar Mall is less than 10 miles south.

Isabel Gates Webster Park has an open field fit for soccer, plus hard courts for tennis or pickleball as well as a playground. Other green spaces sit close to the community. Lionel Hampton-Beecher Hills Park, the site of trenches used by Union troops during the Civil War, has walking and biking trails that go through hardwood forests. Anderson Park has a football field and a pool among other athletic facilities. Cascade Family Skating, a roller rink, has served the area for more than three decades.
Isabel Gates Webster Park is a great place to get out and walk along the paths.

Atlanta Public Schools and the International Baccalaureate program
Students are served by Atlanta Public Schools. They can attend Peyton Forest Elementary School, which holds a C Niche grade. Young Middle School also earns a C score. Mays High School offers the International Baccalaureate program, in which students are challenged to develop the skills they need to succeed in global society. The school has a C Niche rating.
