Princeton Lakes residents enjoy proximity to retail and other amenities
The Princeton Lakes neighborhood in southwest Atlanta is a mix of residential and commercial areas, giving locals convenient access to health clinics, retail needs and recreation options. “It’s a very welcoming neighborhood,” says Reginald Rushin, the chair of the Neighborhood Planning Unit that represents Princeton Lakes. Rushin says the area is also surrounded by walking trails and the city is looking at ways to expand the trails and connect them to other parts of Atlanta.
Townhomes and houses in various sizes
The Princeton Lakes subdivision contains five sections, some of which are gated. The Estates and The Enclave have larger homes, between 2,500 and 4,800 square feet, and are located to the north of the neighborhood. The Regency, The Park and The Glen have smaller homes, including townhomes, and are located in the southern part of the neighborhood. Most of the traditional-style homes have garages and were built in the mid-2000s. The townhomes, some of which were built in 2016, sell for between $250,000 and $350,000. Single-family homes under 2,000 square feet sell for between $290,000 and $330,000. The larger homes can sell for between $400,000 and $575,000. The neighborhood also has apartment complexes east of the subdivision.
Schools offer International Baccalaureate programs
Children are zoned for Atlanta’s Deerwood Academy for preschool through 5th grade, followed by Bunche Middle School and Therrell High School. They each received a C rating on Niche. All three schools offer an International Baccalaureate program, which is an internationally recognized educational framework that encourages critical thinking and personal development. It also helps students consider concepts from multicultural perspectives.
Neighborhood clubhouse and festivals at the lake
The neighborhood clubhouse has a pool, playground and tennis and basketball courts. The homeowners’ association hosts holiday parties, game nights and Trunk or Treat events. Rushin says residents also enjoy the lake in the neighborhood. “People go down to the lake, they walk around it, they exercise, they walk their dogs,” he says. Numerous festivals, including a wine festival and jazz festival, are held at the lake during the spring and summer, he added. There is also a water-skiing club. Deerwood Park, just north of the neighborhood, has playgrounds and athletic fields. The William Walker Recreation Center is also nearby. “That's one of the busiest rec centers in the city,” says Rushin. “They have lots of programs there for the kids and the seniors and they’re in the process of getting a natatorium.”
Camp Creek Marketplace is major shopping area
The neighborhood’s Camp Creek Marketplace is a major shopping center. It has Target, Lowe’s and other retail stores, as well as Publix and BJ's Wholesale Club for groceries. The center also houses numerous chain restaurants. A popular vegan restaurant, envegan, is tucked in a corner of the shopping center. The area also has a movie theater and gym.
Transportation and crime in Princeton Lakes
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, or MARTA, bus system has stops at the Camp Creek Marketplace. The neighborhood is also close to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. “It’s literally just down the road, you can be at the airport in less than 10 minutes,” Rushin says. Interstate 285 borders the neighborhood to the east. Princeton Lakes’ CAP Index crime score is 7 out of 10, which is higher than the national average of 4.
