Historic Atlanta neighborhood off the BeltLine
The historic West End neighborhood, founded in 1835, was one of Atlanta’s first “streetcar suburbs”. Now on the National Register of Historic Places, this vibrant urban community situated off Interstate 20 celebrates its history and culture. “The Atlanta market is hot, and there is no difference in the West End,” says Casey Gargiulo, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty. “It is a chance to be in the city and on the Beltline at a slightly more affordable price than other places in Atlanta.”

Historic, renovated bungalows on tight lots
Historic homes dating back as far as 1835 sit off tight city streets on elevated front yards in West End. “The neighborhood has a lot of bungalow-style homes, which have been renovated and are trendy among young professionals,” Gargiulo says. Homes often have large porches spanning the front of the house. Renovated homes preserve their original architectural elements and often feature bright exterior paint and updated interiors. Home prices vary based on the property’s condition: a newly renovated, three-bedroom bungalow costs around $495,000, while fixer-uppers in need of major renovations or complete reconstruction start at around $150,000.
Homes in the West End range from red brick to deep navy blue.

The Hammonds House Museum is inside the former home of Dr. Otis Thrash Hammonds, a prominent African American physician and patron of the arts.
