Gated community anchored by endless recreation

While Atlantis may be known as the lost city, this South Florida community of the same name is hard to miss. The residential enclave located in Palm Beach County is actually its own municipality, complete with a police force, town hall and a wall that encompasses all 834 acres. Atlantis has a mix of residential options and recreational amenities anchored by two championship-level golf courses. Downtown West Palm Beach is just 11 miles away, but many residents enjoy the proximity to numerous amenities nearby. “It's right next to JFK Hospital and Medical Center, so many doctors live here,” says John Demitri, local Realtor and Team Lead for the Demitri Team of Keller Williams. “There’s also a private airfield across the street, and many people store their planes there.”

Two golf courses to choose from

Residents don’t have to go far for recreation as Kintz Park sits within the community and features tennis courts and a splash park. The green space is available to the general public, though reservations can be made for private events. The neighborhood is a haven for golfers as they have two championship-level golf clubs to choose from. Atlantis Country Club is a year-round public course and features 18 holes winding through mature oak and pine trees. “People don’t realize it’s available to the public because Atlantis is a closed community,” Demitri says. “I’ve played it before, and it's very, very nice.” Lost City is a private golf club with three nine-hole courses across rolling fairways with scenic views. Beyond the gates, John Prince Park is an expansive green space with amenities ranging from basketball courts and softball fields to a hiking path. Humans aren’t the only ones getting in on the fun, as k-9 companions can run free at the adjacent Lake Woof Dog Park. And a day on the beach is never far as the lapping shores of Lake Worth Beach Park are under 5 miles away.

Midcentury ranchers and backyard pools

Atlantis has an eclectic mix of condos and single-family homes from the 1960s and 70s. While the residences may have been built during the same time period, midcentury design elements help give each house custom characteristics, preventing a cookie-cutter look. Two- to three-bedroom ranchers are prevalent and often range between $1 and $2 million. Recently renovated villa-style houses can top $4 million, and plots of land are also available for those looking to build their dream home. Most single-family residences have backyard pools and multicar garages. As for yard work, residents won't have to break a sweat as the HOA takes care of landscaping on every property. Pastel-colored condominiums provide a multi-family option and feature balconies to enjoy the coastal climate. Prices range between $290,000 and $400,000. The neighborhood’s proximity to the coast means an increased risk of flooding. The city of Atlantis encourages residents to elect into the National Flood Insurance Program.

Atlantis Grill & Bar is a popular local spot

Residents are close to extensive shopping and dining within the neighborhood and beyond. Atlantis Grill & Bar is a popular local eatery serving up savory surf and turf options. Next door, Polar Bakery is the go-to for dessert with its tasty Swedish baked goods and other specialties. Rorabeck’s is an open-air produce market filled with fresh fruits and veggies, artisanal goods and a smoothie café. The market has been a staple in the community for over 30 years and aims to provide a natural product at an affordable cost. More extensive retail therapy can be found at Boynton Beach Mall, just 6 miles away. The commercial center has over 100 stores and a movie theater. Journey Church Lake Worth is one of many houses of worship serving the area.

The Spring Fling

The Spring Fling is one of the numerous year-round events put on by the City of Atlantis. The celebration takes place in April and features everything from live music to a class car show. Fireworks cap off the evening of fun, and the event is entirely free to the public.

Career academies at Santaluces Community High School

The Palm Beach County School District serves the neighborhood and received a B-plus rating from Niche. Starlight Cove Elementary and Tradewinds Middle School both received a C-plus rating from Niche. The B-rated Santaluces Community High School offers multiple career academies in fields ranging from culinary arts to cyber security. These academies immerse participants in real-world activities and partnerships with employers or higher education. Trinity Christian Academy (PreK-12) is a private school option for parents to consider. Palm Beach State College is just north of the neighborhood and has an undergraduate enrollment of nearly 25,000.

Head down Interstate 95

Palm Beach County Park/Lantana Airport is a general aviation airport conveniently located right next to the neighborhood, though noise pollution can sometimes be an issue. For commercial airliners and farther destinations, Palm Beach Airport is 10 miles away. Interstate 95 runs parallel to the neighborhood and connects to popular South Florida cities like West Palm Beach and Boca Raton. Residents within the neighborhood prefer to get around by golf cart or bicycle.
