Small farming settlement turned commuter landing spot
Incorporated in 1778, Auburn began as a small farming settlement that grew into a mill town. Pondville used to house one of the town's larger sawmills. Now, the neighborhood of Pondville holds much of downtown Auburn inside its borders; further south, there's a sizable pond for recreation, and several highways cut through the community, allowing simple access to cities like Worcester and Boston. Auburn's access to several major highways makes it a popular landing spot for commuters heading to nearby cities. Tracey Fiorelli, a 21-year Realtor with Janice Mitchell R.E., Inc., says, "There are lots of reasons to move to Auburn; they have good schools, easy access to highways, and a lot of amenities within the town."
Goddard Park, a playground, lake and ice skating rink
The world's first liquid-fuel rocket was sent into the sky in Auburn by Robert Goddard in 1926, which is why today, Dr. Robert H. Goddard Park is dedicated to him, with a plaque and a replica rocket. The park is mainly a green space with several benches, making for a peaceful spot to walk dogs, do yoga or chat. Lemansky Park is a children's playground with a fenced-off dog park for furry friends. Walk across the street from the park to glide around the ice at Daniel Horgan Skating Arena. They allow public skating, offer ice skating lessons for all ages and host hockey games for youth leagues and Auburn High. Eddy Pond is a 100-acre Great Pond in Pondville; in early spring, residents can fish for bass, and in winter months, ice fish for yellow perch. Residents can also canoe and kayak through the pond's emerald water lilies. Most of the pond's shoreline is undeveloped, making public recreation more accessible. Auburn Driving Range is also within Pondville for golf lovers aiming to perfect their swing.
Pondville's Lemansky Park offers residents plenty of outdoor space and amenities to enjoy.

Variety of residences of different sizes and ages
Pondville is full of grid-patterned roads, with residential streets ending in roundabouts. Variations of Cape Cod, split-level and ranch-style homes ranging from $325,000 to $750,000 are available in the neighborhood. Prices vary by the square footage and lot size of the properties. Most homes were built after World War II, including some new constructions from the last few years, but occasional turn-of-the-century homes are also available. Fiorelli says, "The new construction subdivisions are at a higher price point. That's what people like about Auburn; there's housing to be found under $400,000, and it can go up higher for those seeking luxury homes, so there is diversity in the market."
