A commuter town in the heart of Aurora
The young and active city of Aurora is busy with parks, shopping districts and businesses, and the small neighborhood of Southeast Crossing stays at the center of it all. Residential in the middle and filled with industrial buildings, office spaces and medical facilities on the outer ends, the neighborhood is a commuter hub within reach of Aurora, Denver, and Buckley Space Force Base. "It's easy to get to downtown Denver, and the nearby hospitals and medical centers are bringing a lot of new residents and homebuyers," says Greg Livingston, Realtor at Keller Williams Realty. Local shops, petite parks and places of worship welcome people from all around and bring a sense of community to the area. Classic Americana living embodies the area, and the residential streets have a quaint calmness that takes locals back to the charm of the 80s.

Shopping and dining from the past
Driving north on Abilene Street will take shoppers to national grocers and familiar retail stores. Along the road is Town Center at Aurora, a 150-store shopping mall anchored by Dillard's and JCPenney. For some in-town enjoyment, however, locals go to Rosie's Diner. Original to the 1950s, neon signs, jukeboxes and a checkered floor give the diner a look as if it were right out of Grease, the musical. Wake & Take Coffee Shop is also in town. Latte art, pastries, grab-and-go items, and specialty teas are available in a bright, minimalist industrial setting. The location also hosts events regularly, such as trivia night, live performances and business networking events. At Nick's Garden Center, gardeners can stock up on their landscaping essentials and unique plants. In the summer, fresh produce is available from Nick's Farm Market.

Three parks, each with a different atmosphere
A few houses in the neighborhood have Tierra Park right in their backyards. The narrow area has paved walking trails around tennis and basketball courts. Though many of the yards in the neighborhood are too small to fit a swing set, residents and young children can take advantage of the parks. Shaped like a wheel, Wheel Park fittingly hosts a skate park, mountain biking course, roller rinks and quarter-pipes for those trying to nail their next trick. From there, people can walk to Olympic Park for Little League games and sand volleyball. Many golf courses are scattered around Aurora to take advantage of how a ball sails at high altitudes. Some public and some private, the lush greenways attract locals and tourists alike looking for a challenging game.
The playground at Southeast Crossing's Tierra Park is popular with the neighborhood kids.

Lawns and curb appeal residents are proud of
Due to a large housing boom in the 1980s, traditional brick and wood siding homes are standard on the neighborhood's residential streets. Ranging between $400,000 and $600,000, single-family homes with attached garages and modest backyards usually have pristine lawns and excellent curb appeal. Tall trees border the homes and shade the streets from the direct sun overhead, which the dog walkers and joggers can appreciate. Townhouses are also available for those who'd prefer not to maintain their lawns, and they hover around $400,000 in price. Aurora is a desirable city, and the town of Southeast Crossing is no exception, with houses selling after only three weeks on the market.

Ninth through 12th grade students can attend Gateway High School, which offers additional courses through the Community College of Aurora and is rated a C-minus.

Small in size but wide in diversity
Though the neighborhood is small, it hosts many religious centers for Southeast Crossing and the surrounding towns. "The area is getting better and better and more diverse every day," Livingston says. Masjid Al-Salam, also called the Colorado Islamic Center, is in the area, as well as two non-denominational churches: Sovereign Grace Church and Colorado Community Church. New Life Mission Church of Colorado and Denver Hallelujah Church are Presbyterian churches at the eastern end of the community, rounding out the prayer and service houses. Services are held in Korean, English and Spanish, ensuring the community's diverse population feels included and welcome.

Right next to a main highway
Access to Interstate 225 makes it easy for residents to get to downtown Aurora and Denver. Buses run through the neighborhood; however, most natives take their cars to get to work and run errands. The Denver International Airport is only 20 miles north, and a few hospitals, including Kindred Hospital Aurora, are nearby.
Southeast Crossing residents enjoy easy access to public transportation.
