With its proximity to Downtown Austin and its host of retailers and restaurants, Colorado Crossing has much to offer for its lower price compared to the surrounding area.

Important to know

Colorado Crossing sits 5 miles to the west of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, so there is a possibility of occasionally seeing incoming and outgoing planes flying past the neighborhood. “Some people prefer to live close to the airport because they travel a lot,” Welsh says. “There’s not a lot of air noise at all.”

Affordable housing options

Winding, sidewalk-lined streets are clustered with single-family homes throughout Colorado Crossing, with towering trees in front yards that can provide shade during an afternoon walk. Colorado Crossing offers a blend of rental properties and houses for sale, with home prices typically ranging between $300,000 and $500,000, lower than neighboring Easton Park. Multilevel contemporary homes with stone accents dominate the landscape of properties in the area, many of which were built between 2016 and 2020.

Neighborhood parks and McKinney Falls State Park

Colorado Crossing sits right above many of Southeastern Austin’s best outdoor amenities. However, residents can always take their children to burn off energy at Colorado Crossing Park or enjoy the tranquility of walking along the pond at the center of the neighborhood’s loop trail. Campers, fishers and hikers alike all flock to McKinney Falls State Park to take advantage of the many amenities in the 640-acre park. After a walk along one of the many trails, visitors can take a refreshing dip in the swimming hole. Locals favor the MetCenter Disc Golf Course along Metropolis Drive due to its open layout and variety for each of its 18 holes.

Del Valle Independent School District

Kids in Colorado Crossing attend public schools in the Del Valle Independent School District, likely starting at Smith Elementary School, which received a C-plus Niche grade. C-rated John P. Ojeda Middle School is up next, followed by Del Valle High School. Shopping options and restaurants are sparse in the Colorado Crossing area, but some options are along Ben White Boulevard. Locals can enjoy an Electric Jellyfish IPA while munching on a Texas Wagyu Smash Burger at Pinthouse Brewing, which also has an enclosed patio space. Radio East is a go-to spot in the area to catch some live music or grab a quick bite to eat, offering an array of food trucks and an expansive outdoor space.
