Luxury living along Lake Austin
The Glenlake area is a snapshot of a lakeside vacation, teeming with luxury estates and a quick route to Lake Austin. Divided into several subdivisions, Glenlake wraps around a heavily wooded park cradled by a bend in the Colorado River, more commonly referred to as Lake Austin by locals.
Locals in Glen Lake can enjoy direct access to marinas and the Colorado River.

Camping and relaxing along Lake Austin at Emma Long Metropolitan Park
Part of what makes the Glenlake area so unique is its combination of thick forest canopies and clear lake vistas. On one hand, are the 12 miles of pale dirt trails winding through Emma Long Metropolitan Park, past campsites, boat docks and swimming areas. City Park Road runs north through the center of the park, making it easy to transport camping or swimming gear without a long hike. On the other hand, gathering at the historical Ski Shores Marina is a tradition that dates back to 1954. Not only does the marina have a laid-back cafe for dining after being out on the water, but it also offers on and off-water storage for boats.

Unique, luxury properties for great value
Glenlake is signified by custom-built homes with various architectural influences and materials, so no two homes are the same. Houses prices typically range from $1.4 million to $2.5 million, but some luxury properties sell in the multi-millions. “You get a lot of value for the homes. Something with all of the add-ons and amenities in other communities would almost be double the price,” says Tiffany Grana, a Realtor with Compass who has several years of experience selling homes in Austin. The community was established in the late 70s, and throughout the years, a handful of subdivisions have sprouted from the original community. The Philips Ranch community, for example, has excellent lakeside appeal. Narrow lots reveal long estates that pepper the shore, and many properties have private docks. Long driveways are common, “If you’re moving here, you want quiet, and you’ve got a bit of money,” says Nick Podrebarac, a Realtor with All City Real Estate and lifelong Texas resident. “We’re talking up to $5 million for a lakeside estate.”

Nearby Leander ISD schools receive high marks
The only thing lacking in this lakeside cove is local schools and some households will find that the closest school is more than 5 miles away. Kids in the Glenlake community might start at River Place Elementary School, part of the Leander Independent School District, which has an A rating from Niche. A-rated Four Points Middle School has several fine arts programs, including dance, band and choir. Students can perform classic plays like Romeo and Juliet or musicals by joining the Falcon Theatre Department at Four Points. Vandegrift High School boasts an A-plus grade, offering an International Baccalaureate program and an array of extracurricular activities.

Ranch Road 2222 leads straight to Downtown Austin
“A lot of Austinites don’t like to travel longer than 20 minutes. So, living here, they get the convenience of not having to drive far to get to their favorite spots,” Grana says. Glenlake is about 4 miles from Highway 360 and Ranch Road 2222, which provides an easy way to get to Downtown Austin, set 14 miles out.
Dining along Lake Austin at Ski Shores Cafe
Ranch Road, a main thoroughfare of the nearby Four Points area, is lined with shopping centers and restaurant options. H-E-B and Target are in the Four Points Shopping Center, which is lined with shops and chain restaurants. Smokey J’s has plenty of breakfast taco and sandwich options for some good old Texas barbecue. Closer to home, Ski Shores Marina’s original Ski Shores Cafe is still just as popular — if not more — as it was when it opened, and locals flock to this community hangout for a snack after a dip in the lake or dinner and live music on Fridays. Picnic tables line the lakeshore, and the café’s buttery, crispy fried catfish is a great way to warm up on a breezy day.
Ski Shores Cafe offers unbeatable views right in the Glen Lake neighborhood.
