Texas Hill Country beauty and top-rated schools attract buyers

Northwest Austin’s natural beauty is on display in Jester, a neighborhood perched high among the rolling hills and canyons of Texas Hill Country, just a few miles from Lake Austin and close to the Greenbelt. “When people are looking to move to this area, this is what they’re looking for,” says Mason Bleasdell, a Realtor for Mark Martin and Company. “Families come here because of these beautiful views, and the excellent schools.” Local shopping centers offer retail and restaurants, and two major roadways, Highway 2222 and Loop 360/Capitol of Texas Highway, connect residents to the rest of Austin.

Multiple subdivisions with custom homes and condos

The median home price in Jester is $840,000, significantly higher than Austin’s median price of $550,000. Multiple subdivisions feature hilly streets and cul-de-sacs lined with single-family homes in some communities, and condos in others. Jester Point and Jester Estates offer custom estates on large lots with prices in the $800,000 to $1.5 million range. More modest homes can also be found in the Lakewood subdivision, with prices from around $625,000. Condos and townhouses typically range from $400,000 to $800,000, depending on size, views and community amenities. The neighborhood has a low CAP Index crime score of 2 out of 10.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
