A flowering Austin neighborhood
Austin’s Rosewood neighborhood was settled by Europeans in the late 1800s before the community, and East Austin as a whole, was rezoned as a neighborhood for African-Americans during the Jim Crow era. Things have changed a lot since then, and since the early 21st century, Rosewood has become a desirable community for buyers of all backgrounds seeking easy access to Downtown Austin, the University of Texas at Austin, the numerous restaurants of 6th Street and the sleek, modern homes which continue to enter the neighborhood. “It’s a very friendly and constantly growing community,” says Luis Padilla, Site Supervisor at the Dolores Duffie Recreation Center. “It’s a neighborhood where you see construction and new businesses popping up and older facilities and sites getting renovations.”
Rosewood, nestled in Austin, exudes a vibrant atmosphere and historic charm.

I would live here again because the people are friendly. Austin is an eco-friendly city that is big and small at the same time.

The community is very generous, diverse, and welcoming. There is a mixture of the past and the present here in the form of residents who have ancestral history here, and those who are transplants.
