Brick row houses south of West Mulberry Street

Once the site of Lexington Terrace, a widely known public housing project that made headlines for its deterioration, The Terraces community symbolizes revitalization efforts in western Baltimore. The neighborhood’s row houses were constructed in 1999 and have at least 1,200 square feet of living space. Though many of the neighborhood’s houses are income-restricted rental units, select properties can be purchased. Owned homes include basements—a feature differentiating them from public housing. Brick exteriors and colonial-style architecture give The Terraces a uniform feel, and tree-lined sidewalks connect the neighborhood to downtown and the University of Maryland, Baltimore, adding a layer of convenience for those working nearby. Three-bedroom row houses cost around $175,000 and extend up to $226,000.
