Home to about 15,000 residents, Bay Village is an idyllic community 16 miles west of Downtown Cleveland along Lake Erie’s shoreline. It's a mostly residential city, with two shopping centers and acres of beautiful parklands including Huntington Reservation, a Cleveland Metropark with trails, beach access, historical sites, dining and education. Katie Manos, a 6-year Realtor and Bay Village local, says, “People move to Bay Village to be close to the lake for recreation, and the schools in town are fantastic. Diverse recreation in Bay Village

Bay Village has many parks and outdoor amenities. Its prominent parks include Huntington Reservation and Beach, Cahoon Memorial Park - East, Cahoon Memorial Park - West, Reese Park, Play in Bay and Wolf Picnic Area. Life here centers around hiking, biking, swimming and other types of outdoor recreation. It’s home to tourist attractions such as Huntington Beach and Reservation, where visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of local wildlife at Cahoon Creek and Lake Erie. Dover Commons and Bay Village Square for retail

This area has many restaurants with diverse cuisine options and a wide range of grocery stores, delis and convenience stores. Shopping is available at Bay Village Square Shopping Center and Dover Commons. For an upscale indoor-outdoor shopping experience, visit Crocker Park in Westlake. Residents can stop by Mojo’s Coffee and More at Dover Commons for a cold brew, chicken wrap, or an item from their all-day breakfast menu.

BAYarts events are year round

Bay Village's culture revolves around outdoor recreation, community events and the arts. One of the biggest draws for visitors and one of the favorite haunts of locals is Huntington Reservation, a Cleveland Metropark that is home to some of Bay Village’s main attractions including BAYarts, a visual arts and culture center, Lake Erie Science Center, a museum, mini-planetarium and wildlife rehabilitation center. Anyone can visit Rose Hill Museum and Osborn Learning Center to learn about Bay Village's rich history. History buffs will also enjoy the city’s many historic buildings and structures like Huntington Water Tower and Lake Shore Electric Railway Trestle. Bay Village is very active and holds countless regular events such as Sunday concerts at BAYarts, BAYarts Thursday Market and Foodtruck Friday. In the summer, residents enjoy annual festivals like Bay Days, the Rotary Art Festival, BAYarts Art and Music Festival and Fourth of July fireworks at Cahoon Memorial Park.

Bay Village City School District gets all A's

Bay Village City School District consists of Bay High School, Bay Middle School and Westerly Elementary School, all rated an A on Niche, and Normandy Elementary School, rated an A-minus. It also offers a preschool with a special needs program and a daycare for toddlers and before and after school care. All total, the district enrolls around 2,500 students.

Older bungalows and newer villas

Bay Village architecture maintains a New England feel. Its earlier homes were smaller bungalows, with various Cape Cods. Recently, many of the original homes along Lake Erie have been replaced with mansion-esque homes. Single-family residences in Bay Village run from $225,000 to $750,000, varying by the square footage and lot size. Bay Village also offers waterfront access at Huntington Reservation and has many amenities that make it a worthwhile place to live and commute.

Manos adds, “Bay Village is very accessible, it’s a centralized city with almost 100% sidewalks.” The majority of Bay Village residents work in healthcare, education, technical services, science and professional fields. Bay Village's highway access makes for an easy commute to nearby suburbs like Avon Lake, Rocky River and Westlake. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to Downtown Cleveland from Bay Village, and commuters can go back and forth on the 55B Cleveland State Bus Line. Residents of Bay Village enjoy a lifestyle with parks, restaurants, arts and leisure at their fingertips. The city’s landscape and character are largely defined by its proximity to Lake Erie. Bay Village is a charming, close-knit community with deep roots where parents can relax as their children grow and flourish, then return to start the next generation.
