Farmland turned retail destination near Wright Patterson Air Force Base
Beavercreek has come a long way since its founding in the early 1800s. Once full of farmland and humble manufacturing plants, the city has grown into a community of over 47,000 against a backdrop of full, verdant foliage. The city's economy thrives on its commercial centers and healthcare facilities. Soin Medical Center and Kettering Urgent Care are among some of the city's top employers. Another major employer is Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which annually draws hundreds of active duty and civilian personnel to the city. "We have a lot of contractors living here that support Wright-Patt," says Katy Carrico, the city's communications director. "There are so many contract and development companies in our area that I'm not even familiar with all of them." Residents have an array of newer homes and high-ranking schools to choose from, and bustling shopping hubs sit close to several major thoroughfares.
