From the Illinois Prairie Path to the Berkeley Public Library StoryWalk
The old Chicago Aurora and Elgin Railroad route, which terminated in 1957, was reborn in recent years as the Illinois Prairie Path. The IPP is a 61-mile multiuse nature trail and the first proposed rail-to-trail conversion in the country. The trail crosses through Berkeley Park, meeting up with the Berkeley Public Library StoryWalk. This series of outdoor signs showcases pages from picture books and rotates every six to eight weeks. Our public services have been amazing over the years. We have had issues just as any other community have had but, not as bad & the good has out weigh the bad. Public services have been great.

Moved to Berkey a few years ago wanting to find a small quiet town outside the city but close to Metra. I absolutely love that it's a small, tree covered town minutes from the metra. I can get into downtown in 35 minutes!

Nothing to offer as far as dining, entertainment or schools. Don't believe me? Check out the ratings on the school. Definitely not a place to raise children or retire. Crime is on the high end for such a small town. Berkeley 30-40 years ago was a nice small town but many homes are rental properties with transient people who don't maintain their homes.
