Children attend Sun Valley Elementary School, which has an overall Niche grade of C-minus and offers enrichment opportunities like an afterschool chess club, robotics club or library book club. Next, kids attend Smith Middle School, which also has a Niche grade of C-minus. Teenagers attend Huffman High School, which has an overall Niche grade of C-minus. The school offers advanced or AP classes for all standard grade-level courses, and a college and career prep program. The Academy of Architecture and Construction has recently been constructing tiny houses as a semester project. Getting to any of these three schools takes about 10 minutes by car. For post-secondary education, Jefferson State Community College’s Jefferson campus is nearby.

At Echo Highlands Park, locals can picnic under the pavilion while kids run around the playground or play catch in the green space close by. There’s a small parking lot for cars for those who don’t live within walking distance of the park. From Echo Highlands, it’s just a short drive to several shopping options. Walmart Neighborhood Market and Birmingham Food Giant 410 are 10 minutes away in Center Point, as are Walmart Supercenter and Aldi in Roebuck. There’s also a Winn-Dixie in Fultondale. For retail stores like Target, Belk and Ross, it can take roughly 20 minutes to drive to the shopping centers in Fultondale or Trussville.

Echo Highlands is one of the most affluent African American neighborhoods in Birmingham, AL. It's very quiet and the residents are very nice and friendly. The yards are clean. You'll feel a sense of togetherness living in this community.
