A small, vibrant quarter of Birmingham with much to do
Birmingham's Parkside District packs a lot in its mile-long stretch. The community is home to several long-favored restaurants, Alabama's oldest brewery, sleek condos and most notably, the Birmingham Barons. Sports fans flock to the community's beating heart, Regions Field, to cheer on the local ball team during baseball season. The 8,500-seat minor league stadium opened in 2013 and has become a vital Parkside attraction. "I've been to several games myself," says Tamra Lark, office manager at the local Red Mountain Theater Arts Campus. "You feel you're a part of the game because of how the field is centered. The games are excellent; you can feel the energy throughout the area."
Parkside is located within walking distance of all downtown Birmingham has to offer.

Locals have several breweries and restaurants within walking distance
There's a lot to do, see and eat within walking distance. Locals start their day at The Red Cat, a café in Railroad Park that serves coffee and breakfast all day. After breakfast, adults hop around the community's ample breweries. Monday Night Brewing Social Club has popular brews like the Mr. Robot blackberry lemon sour and a full food menu amid lively décor. There's also Good People Brewing Company, which is in a large historic warehouse next to Regions Field. It's the oldest and largest brewery in Alabama. And for a mid-day snack, next door is Hotbox, which serves Asian street food in an outdoor trailer. For dinner, locals head to Michael's Restaurant. Known for its delicious steaks, this legendary eatery has several locations that have popped up in Birmingham over the years. And for high-production performances, locals head to Red Mountain Theatre Company's Arts Campus. "We've been putting on Broadway-caliber shows for about four years," Lark says. If locals want to make a meal at home, they can grab their ingredients at the neighborhood's central Publix.

Life at Printers Corner
"It's an up-and-coming area with a lot of pending growth," Lark says. "There's a lot of apartment buildings being built." Most Parkside residents live in apartment and condominium complexes, namely Printers Corner. The century-old building is now a chic condo complex with "shell" units for sale, allowing each buyer to create a floor plan. The building also has thoughtfully designed plans, such as The Artist's Loft, The Private Resort, and the Greenhouse Plan. Wide open spaces with large windows characterize the building. Cavernous ceilings feature original metal cross supports, providing an old industrial vibe. The units also feature private rooftop terraces where condo owners can create their dream outdoor oasis. All the units in Printers Corner come with secure, climate-controlled parking downstairs, with spaces large enough to fit any vehicle. Condos typically cost between $200,000 and $415,000.

A day at Railroad Park or Rotary Trail
Residents often walk over to Railroad Park to have a picnic, toss around a frisbee or jog along the trail that surrounds the outer limits of the park. The trail provides views of the Birmingham skyline. Park-goers also enjoy lounging by the small central lake or bringing the kids to the dynamic playground. The scenic Rotary Trail cuts through the neighborhood. It was the Rotary Club of Birmingham's centennial gift to the community, completed in 2015. The $3.5-million project transformed a vacant railroad into a beautifully landscaped, four-block pathway perfect for hiking, running or biking. Millions of dollars were invested in the area, and the trail has become a popular destination and one of the most photographed places in Birmingham City.
