Spring Lake is a leafy pocket in northeast Birmingham

Spring Lake is an established neighborhood roughly 15 miles northeast of Birmingham. Swaths of mature trees provide an air of seclusion to the community, despite its location near major roadways like Springville Road and Center Point Parkway. “Spring Lake is a really nice pocket of homes,” says Todd Helzer, a Birmingham real estate investor and Realtor with Sandbox Realty.

Springville Road library branch has more than books

The Springville Road Regional Branch Library is in the heart of Spring Lake and offers workshops, book clubs, toddler reading hours, arts and crafts, boardgame nights and much more. “We have a ‘Library of Things’ where clients can check out mobile hot spots, video games, even an automotive diagnostic tool to check what’s wrong with your car,” says library assistant Barry Crane. For some outdoor fun, the namesake Spring Lake sits in the western part of the neighborhood. It’s a common spot for neighborhood strolls and functions as a local fishing spot. At nearby Bradford Park, visitors have 165 acres to explore, which include playgrounds, tennis courts, picnic pavilions and a walking path.
