Spring Lake is an established neighborhood roughly 15 miles northeast of Birmingham. Huffman has Academy of Architecture and Construction

Springville Road library branch has more than books
The Springville Road Regional Branch Library is in the heart of Spring Lake and offers workshops, book clubs, toddler reading hours, arts and crafts, boardgame nights and much more. “We have a ‘Library of Things’ where clients can check out mobile hot spots, video games, even an automotive diagnostic tool to check what’s wrong with your car,” says library assistant Barry Crane. For some outdoor fun, the namesake Spring Lake sits in the western part of the neighborhood. It’s a common spot for neighborhood strolls and functions as a local fishing spot. At nearby Bradford Park, visitors have 165 acres to explore, which include playgrounds, tennis courts, picnic pavilions and a walking path.

“Those who live in Spring Lake have quick access to all the retail and restaurants in nearby Trussville,” Helzer says. Shopping centers line Gadsden Highway about 4 miles away. Promenade at Tutwiler Farm has big-box stores like Target and Home Depot. Meat Depot by Fresh Value is the closest grocery store on Huffman Road, but there’s also a Walmart Supercenter and an Aldi 3 miles away. America’s Thrift Stores & Donation Center, an expansive second-hand store ideal for treasure hunting, is next to Meat Depot. Folks can grab a bite to eat at one of the many fast-casual eateries along Center Point Parkway, including Costa's Famous Bar-B-Que, where traditional open-pit, hickory-smoked southern barbecue, grilled steaks and fried fish platters are top menu favorites.
