Expressway expansion expected to cut down commute time
Keeneyville’s proximity to the Chicago expressway system is one of the primary reasons commuters move to the area. The neighborhood is about 33 miles northwest of Downtown Chicago via Interstate 290. Plans to expand Illinois Route 390, formerly known as the Elgin O’Hare Expressway, are expected to speed up residents’ commutes by 2025. “The expansion could cut 10-to-15 minutes off,” says Realtor Mathew Mika, who sells houses in the area with Compass. For commuters who prefer public transit, the Metra station in Roselle—just a 4-mile drive northeast—takes passengers to Downtown Chicago’s Union Station.

Mallard Lake, an expansive forest preserve, is located just west of Keeneyville’s residential streets. Residents can take a mindful stroll under oak trees and past blooming wildflowers on the preserve’s 4 miles of scenic trails before launching a canoe or kayak on the 85-acre lake. Fishermen cast lines from the lake’s shore with hopes that largemouth bass, bluegill, northern pike or catfish will bite. Bloomingdale's post-Labor Day Septemberfest and other activities
The Village of Bloomingdale sponsors a summer concert series, beginning every June, in Old Town Park, a 2 ½-mile drive away for Keeneyville residents. Folks can bid goodbye to the summer the first Saturday after Labor Day at Septemberfest, also held in Old Town Park. Children can enjoy carnival rides and games while adults can catch up in the Lion Club beer tent after the celebratory parade.
