A private golf community with an Arnold Palmer-designed course
The Crescent, a private community deep in the Colleton River marshes, is home to one of the few Lowcountry golf courses designed by legend Arnold Palmer. The Crescent Pointe Golf Course sprawls across the community's 540 acres, which includes small lagoons, dense marshes and trickling tidal creeks. Palmer's course laid the groundwork for The Crescent, which developed soon after the course opened. Nowadays, folks enjoy a game on the green, drinks at the Clubhouse or a swim in the community pool. "When people move to The Crescent, they tend to stay there," says real estate broker Kristy Gonzalez of ERA Evergreen Real Estate. Gonzalez has sold homes across Bluffton, Beaufort and Hilton Head for nearly two decades. "I've had clients who have sold their home in there and then bought another in the community because they love it so much." Unlike many communities in the area, The Crescent doesn't require a golf club membership. "The course is open to the public and you don't have to purchase a membership to the club, which is attractive to many people," Gonzalez says. "So, the dues are pretty affordable."
The Crescent is named for the shape of the marsh along it's north eastern border.

Custom homes with Lowcountry influence
Houses popped up quickly after the golf course opened in 2000. Each home, custom to the original owner, was built on a lot up to a half-acre. Several homes are in the Lowcountry style, known for their wide front porches, lofty ceilings and raised foundations. "A majority are single-level homes with no stairs, which appeals to a diverse group of people," Gonzalez says. Many houses have two-car garages with attached golf cart bays. Houses between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet cost anywhere from $600,000 to $800,000. Those over 3,000 square feet can cost between $800,000 and $1 million. Homes that overlook a lagoon or the marshes, with at least 3,500 square feet, value over $1 million. Most roads feature a sidewalk, often busy with locals headed to the Clubhouse.
Homes elegantly fit into the nooks along the beautiful golf course at The Crescent.

A game on the Crescent Pointe Golf Course
The Crescent Pointe Golf Course stretches from the marshes near Victory Point Drive to the lagoons along Oak Forest Drive. It opened in 2000, when Arnold Palmer himself came to show off his signature beach bunkers and marsh views. The Clubhouse, the home base for the Crescent Pointe Golf Club, is the primary social hub for the community. It features a golf practice facility, tennis courts and pickleball courts. Next to the courts is a large swimming pool. Plus, the Clubhouse has a few small events. "They have some informal events," Gonzalez says, "you might see a men's lunch or a lady's book club."
Many homes in The Crescent enjoy golf course views.

Dinner and drinks at King's Courtyard
King's Courtyard is the community's only restaurant, and as a result, it stays busy. It has plenty of tables for outdoor dining and a full bar that overlooks the 18th hole. The menu includes appetizers, like soft pretzels with beer cheese and bang bang shrimp, plus a few handheld favorites, including Philly cheesesteaks, buffalo chicken wraps and classic burgers. Friday night dinners include upscale dishes like honey mustard pork porterhouse and New York strip with rosemary demi-glace. King's Courtyard also hosts small events, like Wednesday happy hour, drive-in movies and ice cream socials. And live bands perform throughout the year. Old Town Bluffton, about 3 miles south, has additional restaurant options, like Captain Woody's Seafood Bar. A shopping center is directly outside the neighborhood. "There's a resident-only exit that goes into a shopping center with a Kroger and restaurants," Gonzalez says, "Residents often take their golf carts over there."
Residents of The Crescent enjoy the great food and sports focused atmosphere at R Bar and Grill.
