Home to Hines patients and medical professionals

Surrounded by two nature preserves, the suburban Village of Broadview is less than a 20-minute drive on the Eisenhower Expressway from Downtown Chicago. Known for its housing, which offers more space for less money than that in the city, Broadview is conveniently located for Chicago commuters and those looking to enjoy urban amenities away from the city. Comfortably nestled between two bustling commercial streets, the village welcomes new shops and gathering spaces next to businesses that have been in the neighborhood for decades with new development projects.

Complimentary handyman services for seniors

The homes in Broadview are one of the neighborhood’s primary appeals. “The price point is the main driving factor,” says Roman Lewis, a broker associate with Baird and Warner who has sold several homes in the area. Brick and vinyl-sided ranch-style homes sit next to two-story Georgians, while crown molding and wainscoting show that these homes have a bit of flair to them. Red cedar chips highlight lawn perimeters, and many homes come equipped with garages or driveways. Two- and three-bedroom houses fall across the $200,00 range, while homes in need of some TLC cost closer to $150,000. Many have a historical element, says Lewis, who rehabilitated one of the oldest homes in the neighborhood, originally a 30-acre farm. For minor repairs, the village offers senior citizens complimentary service—from caulking and minor carpentry to furniture relocation and electrical outlet replacement.

Boutique businesses next to big-box retail

Broadview is anchored by two vibrant business districts—Roosevelt Road and Cermak Road. Roosevelt Road features several unique local businesses, including the Blue Note Jazz Club, the New to You Upscale Resale Store and several eateries. Many new commercial businesses are opening their doors alongside neighborhood staples. The Red Door Meeting Place, a chic event venue and meeting place for everything from weddings to corporate meetings, is one of the newer additions. View Restaurant and Experience is also a new addition, featuring trendy neon light fixtures, wisteria blossoms hanging from the ceiling, small bites and inventive cocktails. Just a block away is the Hildebrand Sporting Goods store, which has been around since the 1950s. “There’s a lot of economic development,” says Laura Catrambone-Gerace, a managing broker with Coldwell Banker Stratford Place. “They’re doing some great stuff over there.” On the neighborhood's south side, the Broadview Village Square on Cermak Road contains anchor stores like Target, The Home Depot and PetSmart, with Aldi a few streets away for grocery needs.

Direct access to downtown via Eisenhower Expressway

Buyers are drawn to Broadview because of its convenient location. Providing residents with a suburban lifestyle and a resident-focused village government, Broadview is only 20 minutes away or less from Downtown Chicago. Residents can take the Eisenhower Expressway, which runs through the neighborhood, to the heart of Chicago. Also around a 20-minute drive away are upscale suburbs like Elmhurst, Oakbrook, LaGrange and Western Springs.

Miller Meadows offer a nature escape

Children and adults have several options when it’s time to get outside, from the baseball field and tennis court at Schroeder Park to the basketball court, picnic area and playground in Pioneer Park. During the summer, residents can splash around in the outdoor pool at Schroeder Park. The neighborhood also contains part of the Miller Meadows, where dog owners can let their canines run free at the off-leash dog park. The meadows feature a picnic area and a green space that can double as an event venue. On the southern edge of the neighborhood, the Twenty-Sixth Street Woods offer residents a chance to get deeper into nature, where Salt Creek winds and plenty of deer graze.
