Rural atmosphere 30 miles from Atlantic City

Set among the New Jersey Pinelands, Newtonville offers its residents a setting where nature can be their neighbor. Even with the rural atmosphere, the location is convenient to two major urban destinations: Atlantic City is 30 miles away and Philadelphia is 45 miles away. “Not a lot of people know about Newtonville or the surrounding Buena/Buena Vista area that it’s a part of,” says Carlo Drogo, Broker with eXp Realty and lifelong resident of the area. “But the residents probably like that – it’s a very secluded area, where homeowners have their own little rural getaways.”

If you are looking to escape the city, Newtonville might be a perfect new home.

Older single-family homes from $185,000

“You’re not really going to find new development in Newtonville,” says Drogo. “It’s full of older, more traditional styles that really reflect the atmosphere.” Homes in the area often come in ranch style, Cape Cod and Colonial Revival. True to the area's rural nature, homes are situated on sizable lots and often come with at least modest acreage. “It’s really unique in that each home feels like it’s a part of the Pine Barrens,” says Drogo. Cape Cod cottages and ranch-style homes range from $185,000 to $300,000. Colonial Revivals range from $350,000 to $600,000. While Newtonville isn't directly on the coast or the banks of the Mullica River, it remains close enough that flooding is a risk, particularly during hurricane season.

Shopping and dining near Newtonville

Newtonville’s relative seclusion means that shopping and dining options are somewhat limited, so many residents make the short commute to nearby Hammonton. Villa Fazzolari Ristorante serves elevated Italian classics, while Pavilion Pizza has been a community staple for decades. “It’s an interesting area when it comes to things like grocery shopping,” says Drogo. “You have your convenience and dollar stores for basic needs, along with fresh farmstands near the farmland.” There's also a ShopRite in Hammonton.
