Attractive homes offer curb appeal, sustained value

While residents enjoy the perks of living in one of the country’s largest metropolitan areas, Ray Park provides a classic suburban setting of well-kept homes on quiet, tree-lined thoroughfares. “There are traditional houses with wide streets,” says Patty Dwyer, a Realtor with Compass Real Estate. “It’s charming, and people like how close it is to the city.” Though its housing was built primarily in the years just after World War II, Ray Park is a relatively new neighborhood in the city of Burlingame. As such, single- and multi-level ranch-style homes are prominent, along with a collection of custom renovations. However, there is plenty of eye-catching historic architecture to be found. The eclectic mix of styles includes Spanish Mission, Tudor and Craftsman bungalow. The architectural diversity is complemented by the prevalence of custom landscaping that highlights the neighborhood’s curb appeal. Additionally, most homes have been renovated and appear much younger than they are, illustrating pride of ownership. Prices typically range from about $2 million to just under $3 million, although a large, extensively renovated home can list in excess of $5 million. The average home value of $2.6 million is slightly less than in neighboring communities Mills Estates ($2.9M) and Easton Addition ($3.2M).
